I see quite a few posts on the main board with Buffalo fans talking about moving Mckee. I was curious as to why that might be the case. Is he not playing well? This summer, quite a few of you seemed dead set against any moves involving Mckee (which I could understand). What has changed?
He's had a very slow start to the season (0 pts, -4) and really hasn't been the same physically since Mario leveled him in the playoffs a couple years back. He's the only physical presence on the Sabres' blueline so when he doesn't perform, it can be crippling for the club and very frustrating for fans. When he's not hitting, he's a mediocre stay-at-home defenseman. And now he's out for a month with a sprained knee ligament.
I wouldn't mind seeing McKee get dealt because:
1. We have a glut of LD
2. McKee hasn't played the same since his concussion.
3. Tallinder and Kalinin IMO have a higher upside and Zhitnik is better, period.
4. McKee probably has pretty good trade value. His upside is a top 30 defenseman, if you judge his Team Canada invite as legit. He also has a manageable salary and is still reasonably young.
