Alright, I'm back (had a self/wife impossed ban on the internet for a week to see if I could do it; couldn't) and I thought I would start with a GDT. Time to start thinking with some good Karma and get some of that good juju flowing. Now the wife won't let me get another live chicken like last season to sacrifice ; so I turned to the great minds from the movie Major Legue and got a bucket of "Original Recipe" and will sacrifice it instead. Hopefully this will lift the funk that has settled over Kari and the team lately.
On a side note, Coburn looked horrible last night, Majik1987, Wolfkeeper, and Lehtsrock, you should feel better because it just wasn't in Chicago that he looked bad. The goal before Kari got pulled, Ribeiro pulled a week wrap around that Kari bit on, but as he tried to get back to the other side, Coburn ran right over him....HE BOWLED OVER HIS OWN GOALIE!!!!!!! On the second goal of the game, he actually let Ribeiro....that's right the same one who stunk it up in Montreal..beat him to the slot and then out muscle him....out freaking muscle him to get the shot off for the goal. Please take him back......please.
OK, I got that out of my system and onto tonight.
The Habs have a pretty decent record at home with a 4-2-2 record.
The Thrashers have a good road record at 6-2-2.
Both of these team seem to play better away from home.
The Habs are 3-2 in their last 5 with quality wins over the Oilers and Bolts....but did get handled by the Panthers on Thursday.
The Thrashers are 2-3 in their last 5 and are officially on a 3 game losing streak (all in regulation)....and it would be 4 in a row if not for a fantastic comback against the Sens last week.
The Special Teams battle is clearly in the Habs favor.
Not so much on the PP.
The Habs have the #4 with a 20.6% success rate and 19 PPG.
The Thrashers have the #8 with a 20.0% success rate and 24PPG.
This is where the battle swings in their favor, PK.
The Habs again have the #4 ranked unit with an 88.5% success rate only giving up 13PPG.
The Thrasher have the #20 ranked unit (the top 5 was nice while it lasted and should show how bad the unit has been as of late) with an 82.5% success rate (if you can call it that) while giving up 21PPG.
The Moose is loose for the Thrashers (HiBob announced it after the game last night). He is 3-1 (getting his first loss last night because Kari got pulled after #3) to go with a 2.65 GAA and an .893 save %.
I am going to go with Huet starting tonight after Aebischer getting pulled in both of his last 2 starts. Huet is 5-2 with a 2.35 GAA and a .925 save %.
Alright, we live and die by how successful our PP is. Right now it seems to click about once every four games and hasn't been that successful in our last 3 so I am thinking that tonight will be the successful night, gut feeling. Defense calms down tonight after after playing better for the last 2 periods last night. I predict a close one going to the Thrashers, 3-2
But It would be may be hard because they've played yesterday in Atlanta... So the game ending at 10:03PM last night, the time to go in the locker room, take a showers, get out, go to the plane, make the fly to Montreal... (They land in MTL arround 12:00AM or more) go to the Hotel, they would may be be tired..
But hey, MTL is playin' like crap, so two elite sniper like Hossa and Kovalchuk are going to destroy us, while that time, Kozlov would make sick pass to both of them !
Coburn did look pretty lost out there last night, I don't know what his final ice time was but I was surprised to see him out there as often as I did. However, I'm all for him continuing to play and hopefully show some improvement.
