Eklund: Chiarelli looking for puck moving D

http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?post_id=3700

Also, I continue to hear a rumblings out of Boston that Chiarelli is burning the midnight oil trying to get a puck moving d. And the Calgary/ Philly talk is still on going according to a source. Calgary really likes Gagne.

Liles/Theodore anyone?

Last I heard, Mara and Stuart were supposed to be puck movers. That rumor is pure bunk.

Uh, which is bunk, the rumored deal or the rumor that Mara and Stuart can move the puck?

I'd prefer Budaj over Theodore.

Liles, Laperriere and Budaj for Toivonen, Sturm and Jurcina

Yeah, I thought that was up there with mentioning stuff from ESPN or the Boston Globe.

If i where in the position to make any decisions in Boston. I would assign Dempsey/Primeau (if i can't deal him for a pick or prospect)/Mowers to the P-bruins. Sign Leetch/Bondra with the money, then callup Lashoff/Stastny.... when York is healthy, assign him to the P-bruins.

Leetch is a puck moving defenseman that if played 14 minutes a game would be extremely effective.... Bondra could bring a scoring touch to the 4th line...

Boyes-Bergeron-Sturm
Axellson-Savard-Murray
Chistov-Kessel-Tenkrat
Bondra-Stastny-Donovan

Chara/Alberts
Stuart/Stuart
Lashoff/Leetch
Jurcina

What happens to Mara?

Other than his mysterious absence, I like that team. But I know someone who would puke everytime he saw it...I'll give you a hint: where is the team toughness/grit?

And Chara and Lashoff, all of whom can move the puck at least as well as the average NHL defenseman. This Bruins team has more d-men that can move the puck than any in recent memory, or even not-so-recent memory.

If anything we could use another guy who can take the body to supplement Alberts and Chara. Lord knows Stuart won't hit, and who knows what's going on with Mara.

That rumor is ridiculous. Does this guy even think before he types?

Why is it so hard for people to understand that Eklund reports on conversations that are happening between teams, not deals that will definitely happen?

Do we have any interest in Jim Fahey? He was waived do to salary cap reason in NJ http://spectorshockey.tripod.com/spe...e_rumours.html

I for one wouldn't mind I think he would be a better option than York or Dempsy(who has been playing a little better) But might not be a bad idea

Eklund is a tool - must have taken some rubber off the noggin as a young'en because he just throws stuff out there like confetti at a 5 year old's party.

my Ode to Eklund...

Tape the blade
here comes a trade
E1 for sure
A trade's the cure

I heard it once
GM's a dunce
Caught with his pants down
AHL talent makes him frown

I said as much in July
E3 - the deal's gonna fly
How it fell thru
Agent began to stew

But this one's for real
Gonna happen, it's a steal
E1 baby - I'm for real
Eklund baby, I'm a thrill

I don't think so but he is from Boston and you know how much the Bruins love getting home town boys... we may have a new GM but jacobs is still around and Gordon is to so its not out of the question.

Wow I think your WAY off here Stuart has been as physical if not more than anyone on this team. He takes hits to give the puck in a great spot he hits he plays gritty in corners and on the boards and has been doing it even since he came back from his broken finger. Stuart is a very physical defenseman.

Agreed. If you watch Stuart, he is a very good physical player. But he picks his fights. I love seeing defenseman come down his wing because if he doesn't break up the play nicely with a stick check, he has them lined up for a good hip check. Make no mistake...Brad Stuart can pound.

I know he is from here but thats not why I was thinking about him. I haven't seen him im basically going by the bits and peices I have heard about him. I heard he was very good with the puck and if we end up losing Stuart or Mara he might be able to fill that slot. But if not then cool...just saw the name and figured i'd mention it

If the Bruins are looking for a puck moving defenseman, it's because they are considering moving Brad Stuart. For example...

Stuart & Toivonen for Toskala.

Do you really think SJ wants Stuart back? I bet they don't.
