Skate Sharpener

I have been thinking of getting a skate sharpener. With three players in the family and the cheapest sharpening of 5 dollars I think it could pay for itself. The question is where to look to get one and what to look for. What should I expect to pay and finally how easy are they to learn to use. I know some people who have sharpen skates for a while and could teach me, but did not know what the learning curve is.
Also what is the up keep of a sharpener.
