Florida (7-10-4) has won the last three matchups between the teams -- including an 8-3 victory in the season opener -- but has not experienced much success recently against anyone else.

The Panthers are 1-3-2 in their last six games and have just two wins in their last 10. Ville Peltonen scored early in the second period Saturday against the New York Islanders to tie the game at one, but Florida allowed three unanswered goals en route to a 4-1 defeat.

"It wasn't a good result, so there's no time to enjoy that goal," Peltonen said. "We were just going and going to the net and shooting and shooting."

The Panthers have outshot three straight opponents, including the Islanders 44-32 on Saturday. Ed Belfour and Alex Auld have split time in goal for Florida this season, and both have had success against the Bruins.

Belfour is 17-7-3 with a 2.31 GAA in 29 career games versus Boston, while Auld is 2-0 with a 2.51 GAA.

The Bruins are trying to conclude a three-game homestand with a perfect record, while the Panthers seek to improve their Eastern Conference-worst 1-6-3 road mark.

With Rostislav Olesz sent down to the AHL, rookie David Booth should make his NHL debut, possibly scattering time/games with Kwiatkowski. Juraj Kolnik who did not practice Sunday said he will play tonight regardless of his hurt shoulder from Saturday. As well, Panthers said that Alexei Semenov will not return from Russia this season, but Cats retain his rights.

Red Hot Cat Of The Night: Gary Roberts now has 5 points in his last 6 games.

LET'S GO PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!!

That should be "Pahk the cah in Hahvahd Yahd"

Hopefully NESN has tonight's game and I'll actually be able to catch part of it...despite the Bs horrifically homer announcers

Done and done. Love it everytime I watch Jaws. NESN will broadcast this tonight on Center Ice, and while they might be homers how wicked awesome is the color guy's Boston accent trying to call a game? I can't wait to watch "Boomeister" play.

Incidentally, this game is so must win it's not even funny. Letting Boston win gives them sole control of the 12th position and they already have 4 games in hand as it is. Panthers have to stop the blood letting fast. Boston is very hungry on their win streak and something tells me they haven't forgotten what happened on opening night. Plus Auld needs his confidence back and this team in general needs to see their efforts actually be worth it.

Edit: Well I changed my own title but I don't seem to be able to change the actual thread title, unless a mod would be so kind?

I'm glad I can watch this one tonight with all the blackouts/no-coverage lately. My friend who works at ESPN actually told me there is a directive to minimize hockey coverage on the network shows since the NHL signed with VS instead of ESPN. Not that the Panthers get much coverage anyways...

That's the best part of being a Panther fan... watching those nail-biting battles for 12th place. I can hardly wait. It's almost as much fun as waiting for the draft lottery.

I swear, with this team, you never know what team is going to show up. The fast, dominating team that beat Montreal or the slow and sloppy team that lost to the Islanders. Someone really needs to teach this team CONSISTANCY already. Lets go cats, put a hurtin on the killer b's and lets start a 5 game win streak.

LOL! This team is slipping fast and if they don't put together a lot of wins to end this month and all of next month... and the rest of the season... they're going nowhere. Actually it wasn't until December when last season's team started playing better, and they didn't make the playoffs. I say let's get on a 50 game winning streak (I bet I've just jinxed us. 50 losses, here we come)

Anyways, I haven't said it in a couple games so:

Let's go Panthers

Edit: Haha, NJ_Cats_fan had the same thinking cap on as I did. Those long winning streaks, you know?

Heh, we'd be lucky if 2 of those were fights. 1 loss for Montador, 1 loss for Campbell.

I agree. In addition to the 2 lost fights (several swings no hits) there will probably be 14 obstruction calls and 2 high sticks - no blood of course. No boarding, no roughing, no cross checking. No worthwhile penalties. Can't mess up those manicures.

Bruins should win with little or no difficulty. I'm not saying it'll be a rout, but they won't have to be firing on all cylinders to get the W. Chara, Mara and Stuart will be difficult to deal with. Boston's speedy Savard, Boyes, Bergeron and Sturm are tough to contain; so is big Glenn Murray. The only way I can see the Panthers getting this win is if they outskate the opposition and get a little "help" from Thomas.

Not that bad of a start. Booth has been out there a couple times and I've noticed him quite a bit. He doesn't look that bad at all, definitely is working hard.
