Let's improve our future without hurting the team

The montreal canadiens got talented prospects. We have a future number 1 in Carey Price, promising forward with A.Kostitsyn,Lappière,Chipchura and Grabovsky and a mysterious but impressive goaltender with Jaroslav Halak.

The problem with our prospects is : there are no d-man nhl-ready.
Of course,O'byrn is quite impressive, same for Emelin.

It is time to obtain a good group of young d-man.

Sheldon souray is very important for the team spirit,he's strong, ifficient on the power play but he's a UFA next season.

I would like to trade Souray to a team that NEEDS nhl ready d-man... like Vancouver!

I guess it would be possible to do this following trade:

Souray

for

Luc Bourdon and 2nd 2007 pick.

Bourdon will be nhl ready next year, he's good in offense and defense. He would stick with the habs for a long time.

Then, Andrei Kostitsyn... a nice RW,but quite lazy sometime,... I think he could be traded too... where? In a team that NEEDS good, skilled right wingers.. like Pittsburg!

Now wait, we wont obtain Jordan Staal nor Malkin or Crosby or what so ever forward... But there is a guy named Kristopher Letang, a french canadian like Bourdon, that could be traded for A.Kostitsyn.

Now on, we could have two french canadian d-man, nhl-ready next year, low cost to pay higgins, ryder, markov higher contracts.....

We could imagine this : stick with rivet till playoff, sign markov 3 years/13$, let rivet on the ufa war,...

2007-2008 d-man

Markov-Komisarek
Bouillon-Bourdon
Letang-Dandenault
Streit

Now, that is interesting

Oh and now on, lets have fun with this following proposal:

Carey Price,Aebischer and Kovalev

for

Pascal Leclaire and Rick Nash.

I heard you : WHAT .. PRICE!! KOVALEV !! NEVER
NASH WONT BE TRADED .... BLABLABLA

now wait ...

Columbus need a goaltender and a future number 1 goalie, Kovalev could play with Federov.

Montreal obtain a great forward with Nash, and a good goalie with Leclaire. Hey, we still have Halak....

Now imagine:

Latendresse-Koivu-Ryder
Samsonov-Higgins-Nash
Perezhogin-Bonk-Johnsson
Begin-Plekanec-Downey

Markov-Komisarek
Bouillon-Bourdon
Letang-Dandenault
Streit

some will say hey dude, you just traded Souray and a.Kostitsyn for Bourdon and Letang they CAN NOT play in 2007...

You are right, they cant..

SO

we stick with
Markov-Komisarek
Bouillon-Rivet
Dandenault-Streit
Niinimaa

Any thoughts?

Nick Nash must be related to Rick Nash is some way?

If a team is ready to give Bourdon and a 2nd for Souray...

It must be because Bourdon won't help us in the future. This proposal is bad beyond beleif.

Three things have become clear with the new NHL.
Top goalies are hard to find.
Top Centers are hard to find
Top speedy defencemen are hard to find.

The Habs Have both Price and Halek comming.

Koivu will be gone by the time a new draftie can help the Habs.
So two new prospects are needed for center.
So two new defencemen are needed.

The 2007 draft looks deep, it's a good time to aquire an extra draft pick or two. The Gainey can use these to bump up to get a needed top center pick and top defence pick. Then look to find better bets in the second round also.

With the current set of prospects and one more good draft in 2007, the Habs will be OK come 2009-10.

Cheap young top talent is the most prized assets in the new NHL CAP. You can always buy a player if you have great cheap young talent.

The time to act is now, setup a great prospect pool for 2009-10.
The Habs prospect pool is almost there as it is, just one more great draft of needed Center and Defence and it's done.

Do you see a reason for Vancouver to take on a pending UFA and give up a player that will be good offensively and defensively for many years to come. And throw in a 2nd round pick.

You're right. It would take a lot more than that to acquire Bourdon alone. The 2nd rounder makes the proposal awful.
