I like the classic rock/prog sound and also some 80s more poppish stuff. For example:

Yes
Genesis
Rush
Van Der Graaf Generator
Emerson Lake Palmer
Magnum
Alan Parsons Project
Marillion
Mike Oldfield
Tangerine Dream
Pink Floyd
Eloy
Asia
Kate Bush
Dalbello
Boston
U.K

Here's where my trademark of listening to bands that no one has ever heard of (along with some 80's metal bands) kicks in.

Blindside
AC-DC
Guns N Roses
Def Leppard
H.I.M.
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Chasing Victory
Project 86
Disciple
Fireflight
Skillet
TFk

I know that a couple of my friends and I are starting a band. It's a cool concept too. It's like a Vegas/Lounge Act that will cover punk rock and heavy metal tunes. We're just unsure of the name of the band. I've been pushing for either Mike Bike and the Kickstands or Speed Speedman and the Speedy Speedsters. But the cool thing will be the outfits.......powder blue tuxedos with pompadour hair styles. How rockin' is that........lol

Dustins Bar Mitzvah, The Holloways, The Shins, Larikkin Love and Muse. Except for Shins, that's the best of UK rock at the moment.

I'm down to a few hundred of my REAL favorites, everything else I buy it, burn it, and return it. (my used CD store sells new stuff as well.

I do however have about 16,700 MP3's and MP4's 63.6GB

I am an older poster

and have seen many of the fav's mentioned earlier (Hendrix/Led Zepplin/Stones/Allman Bros./Genesis/Yes/Zappa),my favorite of all time was The Greatful Dead.I travelled the East coast (from Boston to Charlotte) to view their shows and I still see their solo acts today. No one could put on a concert like the Dead (except they sounded pretty bad at Woodstock69)

Have you listened to Band of Horses? They are a band from Seattle starting to break nationally. They kinda remind me of the Shins a little. They are very, very melodic with almost like an early Pink Floyd 60s pop sound.
