Cause Pearl Jam stinks, that how

Love their early stuff. Cant get into anything after Vitalogy, and I liked only half of that, other then maybe a couple songs here and there.

I'll never regret paying $90 to see them. And Vitalogy is a good CD in my eyes. I think it went down hill at Riot Act.

I like Vitalogy, just really several songs I dislike. Bugs? The good songs on the CD are real good though.

I have seen them live twice. The first time I thought they were terrible but the 2nd I thought they were excellent. Maybe caught them on a bad night the first time.

Yeah the one time I saw them I caught them on a night where they kept Black out of the set list. I was like WHAAATTT!?!?

I agree. That is definitely one of their best and one of my favs!!

I love Immortality! Was lucky enough to catch them do that the 2nd time I saw them. In fact, I was really lucky that show. If I were to pick my own setlist, they did about 90% of it. The only songs they didnt do that night that I love were Tremor Christ and the one song off Riot Act that I like but the name escapes me.

They are not one of my favorite bands, or that era of music for that matter, but credit where credit is due, they have made some amazing music over their career. Just wish they still did!

The only good Pearl Jam albums were 10 and Versus. Every album after that sucked. There might have been a good song or two, but 10 or Versus were good from start to finish. Soundgarden was probably the best band to come out of that time. People can say what they want about Nirvana, but to me, Soundgarden was THE band from Seattle.

I disagree. I like Soundgarden, but IMO, THE band to come out of that era was Alice in Chains. And proof of that is the amount of other bands and musicians that paid tribute to Staley when he passed. Just about EVERYONE. Not to mention how many singers out there have tried to sound like him to this day. IMO, what says the most about a band is the respect and accolade they get from their peers. Not the american public who, in general, listen to the flavor of the month. This sure as heck didnt happen with Cobain. Just a bunch of fans/kids getting upset that their so called "hero" killed himself. Nirvana had all the commerical success but IMO were the most overrated band in the history of music. Soundgarden, STP and Pearl Jam a step below AIC IMO.

I have to admit, that I'm a huge fan of AIC as well. I just think that a lot of people clamour Staley and that the real brains and lyricist behind the band was Cantrel. Layne gets most of the kudos, but Jerry was the real brain behind AIC. I think it's also one of those things that Staley could be replaced and they wouldn't miss a beat. Soundgarden on the other hand had a distinctive sound and there was no way you could replace Cornell. Oh well, who cares really. Both are dynamite bands that ate Pearl Jam and Nirvana alive.

If Staley could have been replaced why havent they done anything substantial since he died?

Cornell is very substantial, but Staley's voice brought more to the table.

I agree that Jerry was a much bigger piece of that band then given credit for, but you can hear the pain in Staley's voice, (ex. Down in a Hole). I just dont think that can be replaced. Cornell has an amazing voice in studio, but he is wildly inconsistent live. Both have their own distinctive sounds, I agree. I also agree that both ate Pearl Jam and Nirvana alive. Personally, I think a few of us on this board could eat Nirvana alive, but then again it is obvious I just despise that band!

agreed,I have some recordings of AIC live, and Layne's voice is flawless. Cornell, I heard him live, too, and it sounds terrible. Especially when he does Rage Against the Machine songs...ewww.

Come on man!! Dio sucks???? Are you kidding me!

I am not going to deny Ozzy w/ Sabbath is the true lineup, but to say Dio sucks is crazy. The man sings better now at like 375 years old or whatever he is then Ozzy ever could!
