What did Aebischer say?

On the radio, this afternoon, i tuned to the sports station and what i heard was "Aebischer shouldn't have said that publicly." I didn't have time to know what he said, but I have a clue that it has something to do with the goalie status. He did not play in such a long time before Philly's game.

I'm not sure but I heard it was something like:

Q: Do you blame yourself for the loss to Philly?
A: I wasn't the one taking all those penalties.

That's what I heard, I'm not sure if it's actually true.

Finally, a minus to David Aebischer, who isn't stopping the puck or making any friends in the Habs dressing room right now. The Canadiens backup netminder has lost three straight games, giving up four goals in each of those starts. When asked if he felt responsible for Saturday's loss, he sarcastically replied ''What, did I take the penalties?''

But the calls were horrible so he may have been refering to that not blaming his teamates for taking them

Abby is frustrated but still shouldn't of said that. Regardless, Carbo has decided that Huet is our #1 and it's time for Gainey to trade Abby and let Danis be our back until Halak gets more comfortable in the AHL.

I don't think it was really Souray's fault. He got the puck away from his man, but an open Flyer -- on a PK -- got to the puck all alone in front of the net (because Ryder has disappeared from the play, sliding on his stomach to oblivion). I mean, sure, Souray should've played the puck better, but I think it's worse that no one was there to offer any support, especially as the Habs outnumbered the Flyers.

Dave ,

i guess regardless abby couldnt be faulted for the 4th goal
it was a aweful break down painful to watch.

i listened and watched all the pre season games and we took alot of penealties which i was hoping was just a pre season thing . it has carried over now 20+ games into the reg season i really hope they can figure it out .

8 to 10 penealties a game and allowing 40 shots a night is goona catch up to us sooner rather than later

Abby is correct in his statement, I just wish he didn't open his mouth with that comment. It can only look bad for him. If the coach said that, that's different but Abby...

Although I agree we take too many penalties we are no where near the top 5 for the season. We are actually right in the middle of the pact. On the other hand the Leafers are 6th from the bottom (fewest) and for some reason that just seems odd. Were they always like that or is it all Maurice?

True enough, Doug. But though I'm trying to like Aebischer, trying to rationalize keeping him all year in case Huet whatever -- I just don't like his style. He's jumpy and seems to make the team around him nervous.

We have been taking to many penalty's this year and it is a problem. Although some of them are questionable.

However, Abby was awefull on saturday. He looked like an extremely bad Hasek. So he basically looked like a peewee.

dont get me wrong im not a big abby fan only because i belive huet is the man . id actually prefer to see Abby traded to address the glaring weakness we have .

i think huet should be given the number #1 title sink or swim . i really trust huet, he brings a calm to the entire club. he is like the teams security blanket.

we need a second line center much more than a 2 million dollar back up for huet .huet isnt our problem .

i hope they get it done soon

I don't get all the media (I'm looking at you Benoit Brunet) jumping on Aebi. I mean we were terrible in his last three losses and there's no way we can blame him. When you get outshot 3 to 1 and you can't freakin score, you better not blame your goalie.

No offense to Abby, but only 1 goal was scored on the PP...with 1 second left, so I don't see how that's a good reason for letting in4 goals...
