what if

i was wondering, if the habs do in fact trade rivet for some offensive help, and quintall retires at the end of the year (his play seems to be dictating that he is ready for the old folks home) who will be the 3rd d man on the right side next year?

komi will be #1 or #2 and breezy either #1 or #2

who is in the farm that can step up and fill the void?

or who in free agency would we go after?

any thoughts?

Will there be any good right D-man free agent this year?

Brisebois will be bought out at the end of the season for $1 million. There's no way we're paying him $4+ million. So it remains to be seen if he'll return. It would be great if he would be a man about it and resign for a million, but I doubt it.

I would love to see them buy out Rivet as well. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that would mean we only pay $6 mil of the remaining $9 mil? That's a bargain, I'd do it. Is it possible that we have an escape hatch on Rivet's contract like Brisebois? And if not, why not??

I would push Quintal to the glue factory as well.

That leaves the right side kind of vacant...lol

But Komisarek can take a spot and so can Hainsey. I think we also have Dykhuis for another year after this one, so he'll probably be back in the lineup.

Markov, Souray, Dykhuis, Bouillon on the left side...
Komisarek, Hainsey, and probably Rivet on the right side...

Markov-Rivet
Souray-Hainsey
Dykhuis-Komisarek
Bouillon

Komisarek talked often about playing with Dykhuis in training camp for some reason...
