Pierre McGuire Fan Club

I would like to initiate the Pierre McGuire Fan Club for the following reasons:

a) Pierre is an insightful hockey analyst;

b) He's coached an NHL team and you have not (I don't think);

c) He's peppy;

d) He has his own little penalty box;

e) all of the above.

Who is with me? McGuireites unite!

Sometimes I think I hate Mcguire, but then I think about Bob Cole and Harry Neale and I want to give Pierre a big hug.

I can't let this thread sink like the titanic to the bottom of these boards. Let's keep this at the top. And I'll do it with another Pierre McGuire thread link http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=316700

Pierre is an entertainment by himself. I prefer him than Pierre and Yvon.

He's is sometimes over the top, but he succeeds in being entertaining, and that is hs job, not being right, or being super knowledgeable.

There should be an option more in the middle.

Maybe McGuire can be a little over the top at times, but as for breaking down a play and holding players accountable, he's one the best around.

I can't stand colour guys who won't say a single negative thing about anybody and try to sugar-coat things. Get real! Tell us what really happenned, tell us who screwed up.

Pierre's not afraid to call guys out when they make a mistake, plus he gives praise to role players who do the little things right and play their role well.

One of the few that I go out of my way to listen to. Don't always agree with what he says, but just enjoy his breakdown of the game (both on the ice and in the front office)

Does anybody else feel like when McGuire mutters a lot, doing colour, that he's sort of sitting behind you, talking behind your shoulder. It kind of freaks me out when I'm watching hockey alone, I find myself turning around to see who said what McGuire just muttered.

I am a McGuirite and have always been.

I agree with him on 1 out of every 2 opinions, but I am entertained by him every time.

I'm just so blown away by his hockey knowledge. He'll say something and it seems so trivial and silly but its so true. He's not perfect and he doesn't always say what you want to hear, but he knows his stuff.

He knows the name of everyone who was ever involved in the game. He knows the names of their families and their pets. He know who they played with in minor hockey and where they went to school. This guy is an encyclopedia. It's unbelievable. It takes some kind of mutant brain to remember all that.

He's a combination of Ken Jennings and Sam Kinison, but in the world of hockey.

Sometimes I like him, sometimes he gets on my nerves a bit.
