Avery is #1 on the Kings and #16 in the league in shots on goal.

Too bad his shooting percentage is among the lowest in the league.

Must be frustrating for him as he is trying to live up to his promise to score more but he isn't very good at finishing.

You can't teach a player to have the heart and tenacity of a Sean Avery.

Can you teach a player to finish?

He and Cammalleri should hang out more, Cammalleri has great hands.

When you shoot from where he does, you're not going to score very often...he's not Jagr or anything, but he's got better hands than many give him credit for, IMO.

Compare some of the 2006-2007 stats for Pavol Demitra and Seano. Avs wins by millions of dollars. And 2 young players!

Demitra- 20 GP: 5 G: 10 A: 15 PTS: -10: 0 GWG: 0 GTG: 3 PPG: 5 PPA

Avery-__ 26 GP: 5 G: 10 A: 15 PTS: -7_: 1 GWG: 0 GTG: 1 PPG: 5 PPA

I'll take Avery O'Sullivan and Lewis. Wouldn't you?

( There are flaws in any argument, this one has some too).

Maybe he takes bad angle shots but i still like the fact that hes throwing the puck at the net, as even if the shot doesnt go in it may still create a rebound chance for someone else.

In most cases, nobody is with him or creating any sort of screen, so it's unlikely to happen.

The most common scenario is: Avery skates up ice with the puck, doesn't wait for any trailers, skates himself into a bad angled shot, shoots a pretty weak slapshot, goalie gloves it easily, then Avery skates over to the goalie and tries to shower him with ice. Highly effective.

I had said the same thing, but have been noticing a little less selfishness in the past few games.

Besides your comment on trying to shower the goalie with ice everytime you are correct. It actually makes for a very intense drinking game. Everytime you hear "Avery wrister" take a shot (of alcohol). It takes the pain away from his seemingly weak attempt at a shot on goal and makes it that much sweeter when one of them goes in. Riznat will agree.

I dont think its that big of a deal. I would expect him to be near the top as he is 3rd in ice time on the team among forwards. He takes less than 1 shot more per game than guys like Camm or Brown, not a big discrepancy.
