Definitely a welcome addition! We're in the 21st century now folks, not stuck in the early 90's. Design isn't different at all, just adds a bit of modern touch to the jerseys.

I'm all for it!

Oh Christ it's just a marketing ploy despite all the "performance" and "safety" enhancements Bettman is claiming these jerseys will provide. Let's stick a bunch of atheletes in tight fitting jerseys to excentuate their physique and curves so that hockey bunnies everywhere will go even crazier and more guys will buy the jerseys to impress their girlfriends who want them to look like (insert any good looking player's name here - and for the love of god, no Rod the Bod).

there should be outrage amongst most real Montreal Canadiens fans , Blackhawk fans, Detriot fans etc.

to mess this extremely with the historic jerseys makes me angry and reeks of nothing more than the cheapness of the dollar gimmick of the World Wrestling Federation .

Is the jersey the reason for poor attendance across the leauge ?

i really hope many Montreal Canadiens fans here and fans across the land contact the NHL and the Montreal Canadiens to voice your displeasure to the Montreal Canadiens Organisation

What's the big deal? Those look very similar to the old jerseys and keep the important elements. I actually like them.

Hahaha! Wow those jersey's are just brutal and totally ugly. I mean I see what the NHL is trying to do here but they are going about it totally wrong and messing up the enitre look of the jersey.

As a Sens fan it wouldn't be as hard to make the transition to a new look on a jersey since they wouldn't be that much different. With the Habs though it's different , cause of all the history and tradition with the jersey so to totally overhaul the Habs jersey and many other old teams would be totally wrong and crappy.

im not quite sure why you guys are freaking out about it.

what's so dramatic?

they added some lines. so what?

they arent changing the logo, and that's what really matters in the end.

*barf*

I mean, put any OTHER logo on there and make them for another team and they wouldn't look all that bad but this is NOT a Habs jersey.

Safety... LOL

im all for the form fitting jerseys but why change the lines on the bottom and sides?? like what the hell is up with the lines running across the sides?? i guess we'll really be able to tell once a player actually wears it.

Guys the game has changed drastically, the jersey has changed at least 5-6 times over the 100 year Canadiens history, its not like the logo is different. Its like everyuone wants changes to the game, rules, etc, but oh no, not jersey tightness!

Stop being such sticklers. We need to spice up this league a bit.

That's also what I think. And also, there no reason not to keep the same model for some game versus the few original team, like our vintage one...Almost every jersey changed at least one time, and ours also changed at a moment. Still look the same, but with a few new lines, nothing bad for me...

Or even better I'll take some classes.
They look like European practice jerseys.

loook at the guy on the far right . what if we gave him a set of breast?he alreay has the lines of a women super model

there going to far now there going to iron on the logo as opposed to stitiching them on . the whole thing is cheapness if ive every seen it
with no regard to any tradition . it wont be long now before you see advertisments on jerseys this is just the first step make mark words .

They look more like practice jerseys than regular game ones. There ok though I'd prefer no changes. Simplicity is nice and the Habs jerseys have been like this for many, many years.

I agree.

And another thing. I HATE Gary Bettman for what he's done to this league. These jerseys ice it. If he didn't start granting all of these teams we wouldn't have any problems with fan turnouts and the need for these stupid new jerseys. Where is the tradition? We have lost our identity and I hate the way Bettman reassures us that everything's okay. Never do you hear him get hounded in an interview. He always plays it safe, and I think he full of s***. You Habs fans should be up in arms!!

Rant Over

Guys, I don't think the jerseys pictured there are confirmed as the ones that will be used. I am pretty sure that is a prototype that some guy (a Sabres fan?) invented a few months ago, someone posted them here way back in the summer...

http://www.sabresinsider.com/images/mtl.jpg

Why would sabresinsider.com have the news before anyone else?

Every fan of a team that's more than 10 years old (the team, not the fan) should be up in arms over this stupidity.

Sometimes Bettman's (willful? negligent?) ignorance of hockey gets overblown... like in the whole lockout debate, where I don't think it mattered much because that was primarily a business dispute. But when it comes to the look of the game on the ice, he is way out of his depth.

Could you imagine Jean Beliveau or Maurice Richard wearing blue armpit streaks?

The Kenora Thistles are rolling in their mass grave.

Well I guess it's time to get a real Canadiens jersey before they switch to that crap.

I think there are things you can't change; this is one of them. I don't want to see the Habs, Leafs or any other of those traditionnal jerseys changed.

In other news, I heard they are also adding a modern touch to the Canadian flag. After all, it's the 21st century!
