Lightning vs. Canadiens - Markov Out? - Dec. 2nd, 2003

Vincent Lecavalier will bring his Tampa Bay Lightning to Montreal on Tuesday, a night which would be a perfect time for the skilled centreman to break-out of his five game pointless streak. Despite his cold streak, the Lightning are still holding down second place in the Southeast division, with an 11-4-4-1 record. Neither team was victorious in their last match, as the Habs skated to a 1-1 draw with the Panthers, while Tampa was bolted by Pasi Nurminen and the Thrashers. Tuesday is also Andrei Markov bobblehead night at the Bell Centre, but do not expect to see the talented Russian rearguard in the line-up.

Key Match-Up

vs.

Habs Game Thoughts
  • With all signs pointing to Andrei Markov sitting out another game to injury, can the Habs motley crew of rearguards hold strong against the talented Lightning?
  • Supposing that Jan Bulis is to miss his first game of the year due to a bruised foot, can Chad Kilger or Niklas Sundstrom show enough on the checking line to prove themselves worthy or regular ice time?
  • Mike Komisarek should see his third game of the season on Tuesday night, but will he see an increase in his playing minutes?
  • Vincent Lecavalier, struggling with no points in his past five games, is a good candidate to break out against his hometown team. Can the 6’4” centreman be shutdown by Joe Juneau and company?
  • What must Saku Koivu, who has yet to find the back of the net, do to get the oft-moronic media off of his back?

Who to Watch For

I think we'll win this one. It'd be nice to finally hit .500 again.

Go Ryder!

As much as I'd love to see a win here...I hightly doubt it. 3-1 TB with the empty net goal.

I must say that I've very discouraged about our team this year. I find that I can barely bring myself to post about the topics that are being discussed.

I also think it will be a goaltender duel... but the 2-1 score could go either way... so it's a tossup between the passionless Habs or the working ones.. we've seen both this year, which one will show up?

If it's a 2-1 loss, at least let it be in OT so the Habs get a point.

Today's the day I finally get my digital cable package, and Sportsnet East blacks out the game in my area. Does anyone know if they normally do this in Southern Ontario?

Juneau and Ribeiro don't play tonight...
Maybe a defenseman (Rivet) will alternate on the fourth line...

Markov is back !!!
And Komi plays !!!

Well, the game is underway. With only 11 forwards, there is a new look Habs lineup.

Zednik - Koivu - Ryder
Sundstrom - Begin - Dackell
Bulis - Perreault - Dagenais
Langdon - Kilger - Rivet

It's fairly funny to hear Dino refer to Bouillon as a 'youngster'.

that 4th line is pretty big but its gross
rivet - kilger - langdon

this is probably going to be one of our worst forward lineups of the year i think

Ribeiro aurait tentance à prolonger ses présences sur la patinoire, selon Julien. La décision n'aurait aucun rapport avec le comportement du joueur à l'extérieur de la patinoire.
BTW KOIVU SCORES!!!! (Zednik, Markov)

koivu scored !!!!!

but ribero was interviewed on sportsnet as saying his shifts were too long and julien didn't like that and that some of his old bad habbits were annoying cj

he didn't seem too upset for sitting out but a little more suprised that it happened along with the rest of us
