The Pens have a ton of candidates.

Fleury, Orpik, Koltsov, Malone(if I'm not mistaken, not sure if he signed on for just one "season" last year after graduating at St. Cloud State to play for the Baby Pens for 3 games or signed a full out contract), and Tomas Surovy.

Orpik, Fleury, and Malone(once again, depending on contract) should be locks. This would be the last chance for Brooks Orpik if I'm not mistaken considering he's in the third year of his contract.

Pitkanen IS what you call a lock.

Also, nobody talked about Raycroft, but I think he posted very good numbers for a rookie goaltender. I wouldn't be surprised to see him there.

they might have to make an exception for the goalies (like they did with luongo in the 1st ever game). andrew raycroft is a rookie, but he's on his 2nd contract. he's certainly deserving of a spot.

No one has mentioned Matthew Lombardi yet, a bit surprizing.

Henrik Zetterberg could make the team. He was invited last year but didn't go because the Wings wanted him to rest. Well he's getting plenty of rest right now. But will be 100% healthy when the game comes around.

I don't think Brandner can play, if Conklin is slightly too old, Brandner is WAY to old. Also the way Burns is playing he isn't a lock and if he doesn't pick up I don't think he'll go.

Funny, I thought he had a broken leg. If the Wings were resting him last year they will probably rehab him this year.

Hainsey, Komisarek and Ryder should all get looks form the Habs.

So at the Young Stars game this season, is it East rookies Vs West rookies?

...It pretty much is. They are players selected who they feel best represent the future of the NHL, not necessarily completely dependent on points.

And i did check. So far, Leighton and Andersson are the only eligible goalies from the west (Stana/Sabourin are on their second contract)

I'd be disappointed if Hale wasn't there. But saying that, the NHL is probably going to promote the offensive/flashy players so I guess Hale is out.

I'll try making a Western forward lineup:

Nash/McLean/Hemsky
Frolov/Arnason/King
Chistov/Calder/Cheechoo
Radulov/Bouchard/Hall

If things continue as they have? Some names that I see being on there...

Jason King
Patrice Bergeron
Joni Pitkanen
Brent Burns
Pierre-Marc Bouchard
Rick Nash
Eric Staal
Nathan Horton
Andrew Raycroft
Jay Bouwmeester
Jordan Leopold
Michael Ryder

To name a few. I don't find Tuomo Ruutu to be a lock at all. He has 2 points in 20 games or so. Reputation might get him in there, but he's been hugely disappointing thus far.
