WJC: Canada vs. Sweden - Exhibition.

Canada will play Sweden on December 21 in an exhibition game.

It may be the only time we get to see Alexander Steen on TV in the tournament, Sweden's in group 'A'... Canada's in group 'B'.

The game will be on Rogers Sportsnet.

Already set my VCR to record the event.. but we in fact may get to see him depending on how well his team plays and HE being 19 years old will be coounted on heavily for Team Sweden Success..

It doesn't look good for Sweden.

They're not as strong as Russia or the US... especially in net.

I was worried when I saw that they were in seperate pools...but at least we'll get to see one game w/ Steen.

Does anyone have a link to the site where I can find out the breakdown of which countries are in each pool?

Group A
Russia
USA
Slovakia
Sweden
Austria

Group B
Canada
Finland
Czech Republic
Switzerland
Ukraine

Why all the doom and gloom about Sweden..

Don't the top 3 teams advance to the next round, so Sweden has to beat Austria and Slovakia for an opportunity to move on.. and then the teams cross over to play the other group... So if Canada wins pool B and Russia and USA finish ahead of Sweden in group a... Then we will have a CANADA verses SWEDEN second round matchup.. and that senario is not at all impossible

We might see Steen again in the Tourney.. and wouldn't it be great if it was for the Gold Medal game..

I'd love it if we made it to the gold medal game.. Don't see that one happening though. I'm satisfied if we advance from the first round. Too bad I don't get to see this one on TV, swedish TV never broadcasts junior national team games
