ever had a serious, re-occuring groing injury?

you are helpless, done. everything in hockey revolves around the groin area.

including shtupping puck bunnies on the road. that and everything involved in basic skating.

i.e. he'll be back when it is healed and no sooner.

Just like forseberg, it's almost bette to retire then playing 10 games a season then being injured. Wear more pads damnit, avoid hits, do SOMETHING. I thought hockey players were tough, I am really starting to see that is not true at all.
its a ****in groin man, its not no puck to the face... sheesh

latest news:

don't expect him anytime soon...

Assistant GM Tom Lynn said right wing Marian Gaborik (groin) continues to skate on his own in Minnesota. "[He] will practice when he can tolerate close to a full [practice]," Lynn said.

i'd say mid-january at best...

Yeah - someone was tellin me last week he was done for the year, so this is good news, relatively.

Gaborik provides the whole team with a measure of swagger, which is huge for them.

I work for a local television station and just got back from practice. Gabby had his first full practice today. Lemaire said he was rusty, but that he will hopefully be back by Saturday.

I'm happy he's coming back, more also happy to know that we are tied for 1st in the division....virtually....without him all year!!!

Gaborik is a dynamic player and with him we'd have quite a few more pts. However, he has a history of this, so i won't hold my breathe, he could strain it at any time.

If he comes back though 100% and plays out the rest of the year, i really like our chances in our division....without a doubt.

Everyone has to be careful not to hold their breath yet... but let's pray that he can stay healthy upon his return.

Normally, I would chuckle at a comment like that. But knowing Lemaire, I actually had to think for a few seconds if this indeed was just a joke.

as from the Startribune:

"I don't know how quick he's going to [get it back]," Lemaire said. "But right now there is no way he is ready to play. He's very rusty."

But the most important thing is that, so far, there is no pain.

"You could see right away that, even if he's rusty, he's still faster than the other guys ..." Lemaire said. "He's got a chance to play [on the homestand]. He's got a chance to play before we go back on the road."

Lemaire is already pondering where Gaborik will play. He said he believes pairing him with Pavol Demitra will raise Demitra's level of play. But Lemaire doesn't want to break up the line of Demitra, Mikko Koivu and Mark Parrish because Parrish has been playing well. And Lemaire doesn't want to play Demitra, Parrish and Gaborik together for defensive reasons. Lemaire could play Gaborik on a line with center Wes Walz and Branko Radivojevic, but then Gaborik and Demitra wouldn't be playing together.

"So I'm stuck there," Lemaire said. "That will be a [tough] decision."

I love the way Parrish has been playing, but I wouldn't mind seeing a shift or two of Demitra-Koivu-Gaborik.. you know, just for fun... like stretchy pants.

Parrish might suffer but move em down to the 2nd line. Him and Rolston will go good
