I can't stand this guy anymore.. I can't honestly remember a worse Habs player than Murray in the past 10 years. He can't even dream of touching a puck. He's falling down all the time, he's bad at everything, he takes dumb and costly penalties, he blinds his own goalie or defelcts pucks into his own net.... there is not a single positive in his game.

What the hell is he doing with the Habs?? Please explain to me...

at least put Downey on that line, or better recal Lappy.

Gainey is a guy who takes a while to evaluate his staff, he'll pull the trigger on Garth sooner than later.

I hope for Lapierre... He'll have a grinder role for this team for a good while, please bring him already.

He was as bad last year, few lucky bounces and that's it... Murray = ECHL

Last year, he had a more important role on the team, playing time on the pk. This year's resurgence of Bonk has meant that Murray plays a much less important role on the team, and has lessened icetime.

lol you have a short memorie...

First, Gart has played a bit better recently, more intensive and overall effective...

He still isnt a solid fourth line player but an ok one IMO...

In the past 10 years, we saw a ton of useless marginal fillers, Gart knows his role and do it decently... I think Gart and Begin would look better with a guy like Lapierre centering the line, cause this line is clearly lacking a natural center, both Gart and Steve are natural wingers..

Traverse, Poulin, Lind, Dagenais, Dackell... to name few... I still prefer Murray by a far margin.

Confused at Le Centre Eaton...sounds eerily familiar.

About three weeks ago, I saw him trying out some Jeans at Blue Marine in Le Centre Eaton. And believe me, he looked confused as hell when the girl working there told him "these ones are flared".

Haven't watched much hockey have you slick Nick? Ever come to the realization that teams are made up of scorers and checkers, not just scorers? I kow it's a hard theory for some of you to grasp. Ever pondered that a fourth-line guy that can kill penalties, will drop the gloves and play with all his heart is useful, or is the stat sheet all that matters? Murrray has been playing quite well lately if the bashers would ever take the time to actually watch his play. It's a joke is what it is.

I also get the feeling that some of you metrosexuals apparently dislike him becasue he's "not cute." Now there's a great reason to dislike him. Why do I get a feeling that if you kids had been around in the Jimmy Roberts era that you'd have hated him as well? A good checker, kinda goofy looking.....would have been a whipping boy for the fans who like their Habs cute that's for sure.

Garth Murray is dead sexy so that dispells your argument.

But I agree his play has improved of late, but I still prefer Downey over him in the line-up.

I liked Murray last year but I have to agree this year he has been pretty much useless. I would defiently like to see one of Kost, Milroy, Ferland or Lapierre get a call-up over him right now.

Murray plays with a lot of intensity and he has good speed but the problem is that he cant win any one on one battles. Streit looks better than him outhere.

I agree in part with you here...yes, the Habs do need players of Murray's ilk, the hard working, grinding type of player. You won't get an argument from me.

However, Murray has been awful since game 1...I don't see where his game has improved, he is working hard i'll give him that, but I find he's working hard 'stupidly', if that makes any sense

I like Garth Murray. He is young still, but if he could hone his game (and it seems to be improving) I think he is an above average fourth line player. He's got wheels, can hit, hustles, is willing to drop the gloves, and has a bit of a scoring touch. The Habs have to be patient with the young guys, even the young muckers. Don't forget, there are 8 UFAs on the team this year, so if you lose Murray for nothing today, he'll look pretty good while playing with Columbus next year.

Gainey won't make the same mistake that we made with LeClair. He won't take the chance that the trade might backfire on us.

Hum murray has probleme in his own zone this season I dontknow why but he's notn the same player. But a sure thing is. He's a lot better then Bégin in offensive zone! He couldve score 10 goals and get 10 assists so far.

We should keep him and I'm sure he'll be good. He's still young and last year he was really good.

Oh man does that ever hurt. What a bunch of piss poor excuses for a team we fielded for nearly 10 years. And the worst part is, I can remember thinking "we might not be that bad." Or "Rucinsky-Koivu-Savage could be a good line for us." Wow.

As for Murray, it's been pretty much beaten to death so far this year. So far he's done nothing to deserve being played ahead of Downey imo. The problem is he seems to have caught Bulis-itis. He'll make a few decent bodychecks, but in no way will he pay the price to get the job done. He turns away from checks, shys away from hits and battles in corners, doesn't initiate much contact, doesn't forcheck hard etc...For a guy with limited skill, playing such a tentative game is a recipe for disaster. He needs to play on the edge and go all out to be effective. He's also seen his PK time cut down from last year which further dimishes his usefulness.
