edm cuts salary for maybe a bigger return on the comrie trade, get a much needed reliable defenseman and a prospect
pit gets an enforcer to protect their near future high pick (ovechkin)
I don't think Edmonton fans are really going to like this. McKenna and Bergevin are considered Pittsburgh's "spare parts" and both Horcoff and Laraque are pretty valuable to Edmonton right now. And for Edmonton to throw in a decent draft pick? that's madness...
Deal is junk, IMO, beacuse Pittsburgh gets the 3 most valuable assets in the deal...
I actually know Georges Laraque.
He trained in Laval at my gym a couple of times. That's where I met him.
I would actually love the idea of having him on the Penguins.
He will contribute with his size.
He's actually the energy player we could use.
Put him and Kostopoulos on a line, it will be a nice forecheck nice.
Bad deal for the greasers. I also don't think Edmonton is looking to cut spending; they went out and signed a $2 million Adam Oates (when they probably could have signed a $1 million Cliff Ronning); this tells me they are right smack where they want to be, and their still awaiting more goods in a return on Comrie.
And oh yeah; Pittsburgh makes out like bandits in this one.
