Shots were 17-4 for us that period. More striking is that we had 8 blocked shots! The comment about the D doing more than Gerber is apt (though no fault of Gerber). I think the team has its confidence in Gerber back, I suspect's Murray's comments about practice are accurate. I'm sure the players have noticed the difference.

My summary so far

This is what I liked about the period.

Spezza\Heatley connection seems to be working well.
Spezza shooting, drivinig the net. No silly giveaways.
Mez and Anton defensively. looking solid and tough
The 4th line. Like how Mcgrattan went to the net a few times and even took a shot at the blue line. Also liked how he supported his team defensively by being one of the first guys back.
Preissing for getting the quick stich and coming back.
Gerber hasn't had much action, but a couple of nice stops.
Fishers and Vermette, well , as usual, their fiesty self.

Anyone else notice how FEW fans are at the game? It's a quieter arena than Ottawa.

I was noticing the 4th line a few time too, mostly cause of Gratts, he was the noticeable one, trys a wrap around in their end and then is back behind our net breaking up the play. He's had a couple shots that were chances

Just look at their GDT. Everyone except one fan has already given up this game to us. With the fans being that down on these boards it might explain the lack of fans in the stands.

I love the guy but he skates like an ape in Bauer's.

What is Murray feeding these guys? I've been hard on Murray, and don't think he's the right guy for the job, but still he's put together 2 rock solid lines. The combinations of Vermette/Alf/Schaefer and Niel/Fisher/Eaves literally makes my mouth water.

I've been hoping for so long that some day Ottawa would have a truly bruising team to play against. I think they are close, plus they aren't all plugs and can score.

I thought the loss of Chara would hurt, but it seems Murray has pushed them to finish their checks. That is a huge plus.

That 3rd line has to be the best in the league. Same can probably be said about the 2nd line, but it isn't a clear-cut.

Just need one more skilled, physical forward added, to get Spezza and Heatley to continue playing with spirit....like they actually are now. I can't believe my eyes, is Heatley putting in full effort in all zones? Is Spezza going in the corners?

What's going on?

ya gratts not great at changing direction. Or Big Ern as they were calling him

They are good lines. Seemed when we were struggling, everyones solution is to come on here and post new line combos as the solution. Been awhile since we or Murray has had to do that. Hard as it must be for many thinking of past records, the coaching staff has done an admirable job ya hafta admit. Maximizing players use, getting everyone going, setting a good game plan

Gerber making the few saves he's needed to make look easy

Edit: Except for that one, not great

Yeah,I really have to give it up to these two;I thought they were both too arrogant to be teachable but I've been wrong it appears. They definitely seem to have bought in for the past 6 or 7 games. Hope they keep it up.

Yucky. Tough time clearing the puck, inability to keep the Isle's zone. Would be nice to see the sens get some sustained pressure going again. Looky looky, PP to answer my prayers

Either Gerber's glove hand is horribly weak or his actual trapper is crappy. Maybe it's a bit of both. But he always seems to let out huge rebounds from his glove hand or get a piece of the puck only to see it trickle in. Usually, the "trapper" simply "traps" the puck.......

Yep,we're starting to play at their pace like we do against Boston. We've gotta control the pace of the game or it's gonna be more of the same.

One bad shift, and a goal.

We are still clearly dominating this game, but need to put the pucks in the net to seal the deal.

Overall, i'm still very happy about the game.

Where are the sens fans tonight? The past few weeks and the boards are quiet, even on game days.
