Don't look now but Tommy's Back.

Reactivated from the IRL and Big Valley was sent back to Toronto today too.

So now what happens and who do they play in net? Ty has been outstanding in my opinion but probably could use a break by now.

There's also the saying that a starter should never lose his job due to injury and thus, if Tommy is ready to play again, he should get the nod for now.

With San Jose, Minnesota, Pittsburgh and Carolina coming up... why not give Salo the chance. If he plays well great! If not, he makes the decision of going back to Ty all the more easy for MacT. Also, if he plays well and shows he's not injured.... trading him might be possible again.

OOh... I smell a goalie controversy coming on.

As a side note, if Ty were to look at things selfishly, I'm almost possitive he would have to think, "what else do I have to do to earn the starting position??"

Could be very interesting.

If this pressure makes Salo perform I'm all for it.

I dont see why we cant use a 2-goalie system if they are both solid where you just go with the hot hand.

After seeing Conklin play great and raise questions around the goalie situation here in Edmonton, I think Tommy will come back and play like he did in previous seasons (excluding last year), most notably 2001-02, with the Oilers. Hopefully, sitting out for quite awhile due to his injury not only helped heal him physically, but mentally as well.

I'm pretty excited to see how Salo comes back. He has alot more to prove now.

We need him.

How about due to the fact that he's stunk all year?

All year or the beggining of the year when the team as a whole sucked? Kind of hard to judge on the first few games. Sure salo was poor, but lets see what he can do with the team now, which has slightly improved it's play.

I dont think Conklin has proved anything in less than 10 games....he choked with real competition anyway.

Salo needs to come back for the Oilers to be competitive...

I am all for it since he is in my pool :p

Hmmm. Starting goalie takes the gas pipe, backup comes in and has a sp about 60 points better? I'd say he has been a Godsend, and Salo is losing dollars from his next contract with every goal he lets in.

At this point, it's probably fair to say he'll be ufa this summer.

Papers today mentioned that Salo is at about 90% and will continue to back up Ty against the Sharks at least, and won't get a start until he's 100%. Of course, if Conklin has a rough game, Salo might be getting back to 100% real soon...

But it looks like Ty's the man for another game or two at least.

I don't think Conks will take over as #1 just yet, but either way, yeah, Salo will be UFA this summer I think. I can't see the Oilers picking up his option now, unless he turns into the second coming of Terry Sawchuck for the rest of the season and wins the first round for them single-handedly.

I can maybe see his option not getting picked up but the Oilers offering him a contract for lower $. If Salo is the guy I think he is, he'd consider it too.
