The season series, 2-0-1, although true from a Sabres perspective makes us look bad. From our side it's 1-1-1

Go Habs Go, win in regulation and make the season series 2-1-1, stop the confusion!

damn lines will be the same again?! they need to change it up!

TSN ice chips:

Montreal Canadiens: The Canadiens held an optional practice on Friday after taking three of a possible four points in their last two games... Although coach Carbonneau altered his lines in the win over the Islanders, he says he's going back to his old lines for Saturday's match-up against the Sabres. So, even though Sergi Samsonov hasn't scored in 18 games, he'll be back with Plekanec and Kovalev... Mark Streit returns on the fourth line with Murray and Begin... Cristobal Huet will be in goal Saturday against the Sabres... Chris Higgins, out with an ankle injury, begins skating with the team on Monday. - TSN

Montreal Canadiens: The Montreal Canadiens expect to have defenceman Andrei Markov back when they play host to the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night. - Canadian Press

They will be hungry after losing to florida and washington. So we need to get an early jump on them and don't take the foot off their neck till the final buzzer.

Habs 4-3

I'll be at the game...the Habs are 2-1 this season in games I've attended, the only loss was the other Buffalo game. I honestly think at this point in the season we can best Buffalo in regulation if everybody comes ready to play. We've put up a good fight 2 out of the 3 times we've played them this season...

I'm a Rangers fan, and my fantasy hockey team has Huey, Henke, and Miller. I'm sitting Miller and hopin the rangers hold out the sens who are a little overdue for some wins... I like the special teams numbers for this matchup, habs seem like they may have an edge whenever there is someone in the box, from either side...

I see it so often, I have to ask. How is "relying on Huet" (paraphrased) a key to victory. Seems to me that's a key to not losing, but not necessarily to victory.

This is true. Having to rely on a single player in a team game is not really a key to victory. If it was reworded to "Huet needs to have a strong game", it would make more sense.

happy birthday! There's nthing like birthdays that fall on a saturday ... those are special!

As for the habs, I'll be interested to see whether their legs will keep up with buffalo seeing as its 3 games in 4 nights.

I predict that the sabres will take over once we get into the 3rd period so its crucial to pot some goals early and hopefully Huet has a brilliant game as per usual.

Sabres will be mad after their loss in florida.

Winning this game would make me real proud!

this is why I know longer pay attention to records (unless te teams are tied at the end of the year)

For me, the key stat is point differential.... sabres lead by 2 points (5 points to 3)

A regulation win and we tie the season series.

Very happy to see Markov back tonight. Big game tonight in the standings...a win could put us up a little more on the teams trying to catch us and we could move within 6 points of Buffalo with the same amount of games played. I'm not ready to crown them NE champs just yet.

Just found a cool Koivu photo from Thursday's game (my new wallpaper) :

Yeah, but this is written in today's La Presse.

http://www.cyberpresse.ca/article/20.../1002/CPSPORTS

Basically the piece says Carbo has left the door open to changes on the top 2 lines for tonight. Carbo playing mind games with Lindy Ruff perhaps?

Good he's back but too bad Niinimaa has to sit out now. From what I've read on the boards his last two games were two of his best all year. Guess it speaks to the depth this team has on D right now. When was the last time we dressed 11 forwards?

I think "Rely on (Goalie X) at key times" was a key to victory for every team in every Habs GDT this season hehe...

I'm not saying the statement is wrong, but as other posters have pointed out, it's more a key to not losing. I don't really have a problem with the wording though. I simply find it's quite redundant, generic, and goes without saying. Maybe you can focus on the other team when coming up with keys to victory (e.g: Focus on playing a physical game to intimidate small Sabres forwards).

Making the GDT is time-consuming, I know...it will become even more time-consuming if you're forced to come up with insightful, tailored keys to victory for each team every game! So if you don't have time to change up the keys to victory, nobody will fault you for it!!! I would simply remove the section altogether in that case.

Habs911, GDT extraordinaire, don't take this personally. You do a fine job with the GDTs and we all appreciate the work you do . These comments are in the spirit of healthy, constructive criticism.
