Several prospects stepping up.

The Oilers have a few guys to get excited about in the system, and there are three who are stepping up big time. Mikhnov's stats for the last 3 seasons:

01-02 Moscow Dynamo 25gp, 2-1-3
02-03 Novosibirsk Sibir 51gp, 7-9-16
03-04 Novosibirsk Sibir 22gp, 9-6-15

That's in the Russian Elite League, which is a quality league. He stepped forward last season, and looks like he might end up with 15-20 this season.

Brodziak won't be 20 until May, and in his 19 year old season is 20-20-40 in 28 games. Comrie was 20 when he went 37gp, 39-40-79, so the idea that Brodziak's numbers have no value doesn't hold water imo. I'm not saying he'll be Comrie, but he certainly appears to have big league potential.

Pouliot is hurt so damn often, but even so 16gp, 11-13-24 is pretty impressive.

Someone mentioned that Johansson was looking good despite the lack of stats (I think it was spazz and or Seachd). Radunske looks like he might have an outside chance at 20 this season in his junior year.

Doug Lynch's goal today puts him at 4-6-10 and he played extremely well this afternoon. Deslauriers remains the team's most impressive goalie prospect.

Add in Hemsky who has already graduated, and the drafts of 2001-2003 (with the free agent signings of MA Bergeorn and Conklin) give the Oilers a pretty full cupboard.

Did I miss anyone?

before i forget lynch could make this team next year, was impressed with his play against manitoba today on sportsnet. so far have watched him play a couple of times and he keeps getting better. his offense is another feather in his cap.

Jesse Niinimaki - Injured, but by all accounts, he was playing quite well before his shoulder injury.

Matt Greene - I think he is going to be a solid, no-nonsence dman with a meanstreak.

Jarret Stoll - I think he should be thrown in here too. Has looked good with the Oil this year. ( although he has to stop taking dumb penalties)

And you can't forget Raffi Torres

or

Realistically, just as likely that Brodziak = Hinz, though I have higher hopes too.

I would love to see him on the invite list for the World Junior team tomorrow.

if there were no lockout next year I'd think that it would be automatic that Mikhnov come over, but with that uncertainty I'm not sure Mikhnov will necessarily even sign this summer, might want to keep his RSL options open.

What's the rule on Euro draft picks anyways, at what point do they go back in the draft, and is there still the ability for other clubs to throw an RFA offer at a Euro after a certain amount of time (like TOR did with Ohlund way back when?)
