2-on-1 and 3-on-1 breakaways

Ok today is the last straw, this is a recurrent problem with this year's Canadiens, they seem to miss almost all their 2-on-1 and 3-on-1 breakways, which are supposed to be some of the most productive situations in the game. Am I the only one who noticed that? I mean, it was bad all season but today they may have missed about 5 in a period and a half, it's just incredibly ridiculous.

We must've had at least 4-5 in the first period alone (and others throughout the game) and screwed each one up. They pass when they should be shooting and vice-versa. Some were good defensive plays on the part of the Sabres but most of the time we just wound up wasting the chance by passing into a Sabre skate/body or missing the net. Time for some drills!

At least I'm not the only one who noticed, I recall it happened a lot in the past games too but a bit lesser. Still, I might be wrong on this one, can anyone confirm?

I'm bitc*ing alright but I really like what I see this season and I think it's the greatest edition of the Habs since I'm really into hockey. I'm just asking around to see if other people are seeing the same problems as me but it doesn't mean I don't enjoy the game, in fact, it's totally the opposite and I just can't wait to see what will happen when Higgins returns.

We are crappy when we are in a 2v1. Thats problably the main reason why we arent getting much goals on 5v5, lets hope they pratice alot that situation and that we can get alot better

It definetly is the last straw. Glad you made a thread about the problem, it should fix everything.

You just said exactly what I was going to post. I hope they can fit some odd man rush practice in. Problem is, they're so hard to effectively artificially reproduce in practice.

You gotta admit, Rivet (either him or it was Dandenault) made an awesome play when he went down defending a 2-on-1.

Oh, sorry, I thought I was in the Montreal Canadiens section and that it was meant to talk about the team. You think ANYTHING on this board fix the problems we talk about?

Plekanek was on 4 of the 2 on 1 breakaways... not much could come of it.

Well that explains it...Mr. No Finish himself.

It's good that he's creating chances but I can't remember the last time he scored a goal that wasn't a serious gimme or on a breakaway.

I do not recall many 3 on 1 but there were plenty of 3 on 2s and 2 on 1, and only twice did the Candiens get a decent chance, it was when Koivu cut to the slot and shot then puck. The goal of an odd man rush should be to get a good shot and thus a coring chance or two depending on the rebound but since the Candiens have struggled a lot 5 on 5 I am sure they are gripping their sticks a bit to tight.

The Habs have alot of players who look to set up the perfect chance...largely a team of forwards who are very unselfish, and probably should shoot a little more...

I believe it was actually in the second period, not the first, and they missed 3 or 4 of them in a short span, this thread is actually correct that this was the difference in the Buffalo game for sure, 2-on-1's and the like should result in goals 40-50% of the time, so there's 2 goals right there!

The other deciding factor was that Miller was betetr than Huet, who could ahve stopped both regulation goals.

Besides that, as Carbo said, nothing to b*tch about.

That is the most 2-1 & 3-1 i have seen in a game.

We really need to fnish these plays.

Miller played amazing & their D blocked some shots...
