Dmitry Klopov - his stats are nice for RSL, never seen him play or heard anyone mention him as a good prospect, but this year is his first NHL draft eligible year and those stats are nice: anyone know where he ranks among other draft eligibles, will he get considered for the U-20 national team this year?
Sorry for the long delay, below please find answers to some of your questions. I'll post a few more in the next few days:
any new update with Voloshenko?
Voloshenko had a very mediocre season with HC Dynamo. He actually first joined HC Ak Bars but really did not do well with that team and got no ice time, so he then moved on to Dynamo. He really should have stayed in the AHL in my opinion.
skachov looks to be making progress for traktor, last summer he was at the blues camp - anyone knows what his plans are for next season.
Tough to say regarding Skachkov. His career is gaining steam in Russia after another strong season, so I don’t think he can afford to go to St. Louis preseason camp without a contract. He might follow Lemtyugov and sign a two way deal, but would not count on him late in the training camp as he would be already expected to play in Russia. The youngster training camp in the middle of the summer is a different story – he might come by for that. I think St. Louis should look to sign him to a 2 way deal if they can.
can i get a update please on Roman Voloshenko and Alexander VasyunovVasyunov had a strong playoff thus far ever since he got a chance to play up as an injury fill in for Konstantin Rudenko, who was leveled by Kasparaitis earlier in the playoffs. A very talented young winger who has a lot of skill, but also brains, which makes him very interesting to watch. I would say he is one of the best forwards New Jersey picked out of Russia – and they had a few others in Zharkov, Suglobov, etc.
am wondering what type of game Vladimir Zharkov plays. What is his potential like?
Now about Zharkov – he had a pretty mediocre season. Part of it has to do with ice time, but he really hasn’t done much to deserve more and Bykov is a pretty level headed coach who will give you your chance. He has skilled and plays fast paced hockey. He is also not afraid of traffic and constantly tries to prove himself. He is not very big though and hasn’t yet developed a lot of strength. I like his potentially, but am still not sure about his upside and ability to raise his game to the next level, but could evolve into a Mozyakin type player with more of a physical edge.
Bring him over now please. Korneev would make a very strong utility defenseman who could fill in holes and also score a goal or two for you. He has started to become more consistently a national team member this year and Bykov really trusts him with ice time. Korneev really came into his own since being with HC CSKA where he is one of the defensive squad’s leaders.
update on shirokov?
Another strong season, and this time without Alexander Nikulin centering him. I’d say that Shirokov is starting to mature and Vancouver did well by drafting him. I’d wait one more year though for him to mature, but if they can sign him this year and have him develop in the AHL, then it’s a different story – do it!
Do you guys believe Kulemin could potentially be an impact player in the NHL level?
I’d say he will be a second line scoring winger in the NHL with about 30 goals a season as his ceiling unless he plays with a set up god like Adam Oats or Mario Lemieux. He is capable of creating things himself and is a hard worker, but his hockey sense upside is limited and he gets a lot from sheer hard work. If someone could help use his talents more effectively, he would really blossom.
