Any update on A. Pechursky? Such as what kind of season he had, if he is going to get any time in the KHL anytime soon, and if he is still on the radar for the U20 team for the upcoming WJCs?

it's in Russian, basically it says that Metallurg will not be acquiring any new goalies and hopes to get by with their own trio - Proskuryakov, Pechurskiy, Bobkov.
With rumors heating up that Shirokov has already or will soon sign with the Canucks, I'd appreciate any opinions on his development over the last few seasons. Has his skating improved? etc.
Anyone who questions his skating never seen him playing. He's a speedy skater with good stamina and energy. And yeah, he has improved up to become CSKA's #1 scorer, even if in Vancouver it will be hard for him because a) more physical league, he's average size, and 2) he's got DEADLY chemistry with Parshin in CSKA, and they obvsiouly aren't going to play together in Vancouver.

and if you consider the deadly chemistry between them two and newly arrived Nikulin one has to wonder what really did happen between Parshin/Shirokov and Nemchinov? Were their spots given to so called "sponsored" players?
Good call. I guess something similar. It was truly a good line, Shirokov Nikulin Parshin, all three were very young at time. Not that they are old now.
Played with SKA last season but not is listed for the Blackhawks propect camp this year. Anyone have more info on his intentions or if SKA will or has offered him a new contract. Thx.

here's a link in Russian where he states his decision to stay in Russia for this season
Hello all! Lots of Blues fans think Lemtyugov has tons of skill and deserved (possibly) to be called up to the big club for, at least, a sniff. We all know what happened when he was not called up; he bolted for Russia.
From what we understand, he supposedly said that he regrets leaving Peoria, but if any of you have any information on his status, then we'd love to hear it. It's hard to know what the truth is when we get second-hand information that has to be translated into English.

Thanks a billion rubles.
Blues are not Russian friendly team to start with, so it's hard for fringe player out of Russia to make the team. I think he made a right decision, but came back to a wrong team.
Whomever moved this thread, thank you. I didn't even think to place it in this existing Sticky.

To say that The Blues are not Russian friendly is way off base. The fact of the mater is that The Blues were one of the first NHL teams to bring in Russian players after The Wall fell. The Blues had several Russians playing for them in the early 1990s. And The Blues continued to draft Russians, but almost every single one of them wanted a fast-track to the NHL. Unless your name is Fedorov, Kovalev, Ovechkin, Malkin etc. that is not going happen.
These Russians that were drafted by The Blues wanted one-way contracts and that is unacceptable. They would have to be supremely talented like those Russians I just mentioned in order to get a one-way contract. Lemtyugov did the right thing by coming over to North America and giving it a try.
I totally agree that his personal life was not supported in the way it should have been. He's young and he came to a gigantic foreign country where we do things very differently.
But, he said that leaving Peoria was a mistake and that he could have done more. Most of us Blues fans agree that he was mishandled and that he should have been treated differently, but the fact remains that The Blues have a history of drafting Russian players who want one-way contracts. Ain't gonna happen.

Yeah...well....that's a problem. Maybe if they weren't such inflexible prima-donna's, then they'd adjust at a much faster rate instead of whining and running home to mama.
Anyway, if you or anyone else out there can clarify Lemtyugov's situation, then please do so. We're dyin' to know.

there's close to none info on Severstal', so I can't go beyond saying that he's on the tc roster.

Inflexible prima-donnas?
Well, I guess you can say that, although I don't think you can blame them for not wanting to play in AHL if they have a better option.

This comes from the relatively high salaries in the KHL, and having to come to NA and having to forfeit a ton of money they have a wtf kind of attitude if they are sent to the AHL and everybody can understand that. Especially if you are getting sent down, not because you are a lesser player, but 'cause you have to learn English and adopt to the country.

That's right. Like I said, we can't blame them. Playing in your home country for more money sounds better than riding the bus. But I wonder why they even bother coming over if they are just going to run back home. It's not like they don't know how things work over here.
Again, I can't blame them for wanting to play in Russia, but my attitude is that they (meaning, those who are not extremely talented) shouldn't even bother coming over and waste our time and undermine team chemistry by leaving. What's the point?
Whatever happened to these prospects they were once highly regarded and now I can't even find thir profiles? Especially Mayer he looked really good when I saw him in the Canada-Russia challenge.
