I think many times it's poor communication of NHL teams.

Players want to know why they're being sent down, where they stand with a team, what can be expected from team, what's being expected of them, etc.

From many blogs/interviews I've read, players are often sent down to the AHL and told to just 'play' with little explanation of anything. Of course the Russian player will eventually say 'forget this...I'm not riding buses around anymore.'

I totally agree about the communication problems. I'm starting to realize that many NHL clubs, including The Blues, too often push European/Eurasian players too much and don't let them grow up at home and come over if/when they feel ready. The key is letting them grow up a little with their family and friend support systems and allow them the room to make a mature decision instead of coming over and then leaving us fans scratching our heads because we just don't understand. Coming over here must be mind blowing. It is ****ing insane over here in The States.

OT:
Like I've said before. Sergei Makarov was a childhood hero of mine. I think he was one of the best ice hockey players of all time.

-------------------------------------------

So, what's the deal with Sergei Andronov? Pros, cons, tendencies. We've read scouting reports, but we wanna here from Russian fans.

Thanks.

Andronov is skilled. He has good skating, scoring ability.

I don't think he'll ever be a great play-maker, but he can finish.

His all-around game needs work also.

Can anybody provide any updates on the Stanislav Galiev situation?

Last I heard Mike Kelly from the Sea Dogs was going to Russia this week and I'm curious if anybody has heard anything?

Thanks.

Hey guys, I have a unique question. I recieved a hockey stick from my father...but would like to know more about the particulars of it?

Some of the inscriptions on it are:
CДEΛAHO B CCCP

Л BH #6

Mockba (which I am assuming is Moscow)

Any ideas? Thanks!

CДEΛAHO B CCCP = Made in USSR.

Л BH = L VN

I'm not sure what that is. Is it left-handed?

Maybe "ВН #6" is first, last name and number?

Aleksandr Korolyuk

What is his contract situation? I know he signed a two-year deal in 2005-2006...

Under contract with SKA St. Petersburg through the 09-10 season. Vorobiev is under contract through 2010-11 with Dynamo Moscow.

If you want contract information, it's generally at Elite Prospects. I'd advise checking there first before starting a thread about it, and there's also a thread specifically for player inquiries in the Russian forum.

Igor Makarov

Do any of you guys have the pleasure of watching Makarov play in the KHL? Most people on the Hawks board are very high on him. There isn't much tape of him on the internet, so i'm looking for opinions from those who have seen him play a considerable amount. Any information is appreciated. Thanks.

Right. The brief time I saw him at prospects camp last year he was fast and had soft hands. He wasn't overly physical though. Has that changed at all?

Igor Grigorenko

How badly did his accident affect Igor Grigorenko's career?

I hope I don't come off as insensitive here, but I recall him mentioned as an outstanding Red Wings prospect a number of years ago.

I assume he'll be playing in the KHL for the remainder of his career.

Does he receive a substantial salary?

thanks

Ruined his career. He didn't skate a lot for Ufa last year. Really, I get the feeling he is hanging on to stay in the KHL.

I saw alot of him before the accident and he was a totaly different player then.
I saw him in the WJC games I saw many games of him with Lada and even just recenty a few weeks ago i finnaly got around to watching all of team Russia's games from the 2003 WC. at the 2003 WC Grigs played on the first line with Datsyuk and kovalchuk. he looked great. There were numerous times where he was sent out on the penalty kill with kovalchuck instead of Datsyuk.
I was very impressed with him back then,, he was not afriad to hit and hit hard at the same time he had great skills and could put on a show.

Since that accident it like watching a totaly different player it really affected him. From time to time you see the great hands and skill but not like before.

By the way today he played on the first line for Ufa at the Cup of the President of Bashkiriya. I have not fully watched the game yet so later i will and will let you know how he looked.

I saw him in person in the red wings exhibition and he looked awful. He was just out of shape. he was ten miles behind every play and when he got a pass before he could take only 2 strides before every one else caught up to him and knocked him off the puck. He did go to the net hard and even started a fight.

Saw him at wings camp two years ago. Was slow in all the drills. Felt bad and even worse when I missed getting his Lada jersey signed by him...now it will never happen. Still rooting for him though

I'd like to know what's going on with Sergei Anshakov who is, technically, still a Pens prospect. With 7 different teams over the last 5 years, is this guy becoming the Russian Mike Sillinger? Eliteprospects.com doesn't show him being signed yet for next season.

he had returned to CSKA and played his frist game in a loss vs. Amur. I think for him to make a team CSKA waived Zhmakin too, kinda weird...

Where is he playing this year? Haven't seen him suit up for Omsk this season.
