GDT - Oilers vs. Sharks

Let's look ahead to the Sharks game, rather than back to the Avs & Wings games, shall we?

I also started this as I was all caught-up with the other threads, so I couldn't think of anything else to start...

So it looks like Conklin starts again... Do we speculate on any lineup changes?

Bart

The paper also mentioned that Oates will have different linemates. Eric Brewer is still out and will probably be reevaluated after the San Jose game.

i dont think MacT should break up the Isbister-Stoll-Hemsky line as they've been playing really well. Nor should the York line be broken so that leaves moreau, pisani, oates, smyth, horcoff, laraque and chimera. my guess at the lines would be something like:

smyth-horcoff-chimera/laraque
moreau-oates-pisani

or some combination of these which could be (and i'll be POd if it is)
oates-horcoff-laraque
morea-smyth-pisani

3-2 sharks due to special teams. if the oilers cannot improve both areas, don't expect this team to make the playoffs. right now the sharks are playing well so i doubt it will be an easy game. please tell me horcough is not playing in this game but of course i am wrong so the blender continues unabated.

It looks like Moreau, Staios, Torres, York, Conks, Smytty and a couple others got practice off. The rest were out there "bright and early" according to today's Sun.

Interesting move by MacT. Moreau had some good opinions too in the Sun article I read here:
http://www.canoe.ca/EdmontonSports/e...1-30-1014.html

Anyway, this is going to be a tough one for the Oilers. I figure either a tie or a one-goal win for either side. Should be a tough game too...I hope guys like Isbister (who was hurting in practice) and Laraque show up to play physical.

I like:

Chico-Yorkie-Dvo
Smytty-Oates-Hemmer
Chopper-Horrible-Pisani
Izzy-Stollie-BG

I just don't want to look at the defence. Blegh. We have enough forward depth that a move should be made to shore up the D here...I'm not too sure why it hasn't been made actually. I know Lowe likes to be patient...but...c'mon now...

Anyway, we need Reasoner back. Those are SOLID lines with Reasoner in the place of Horrible, who needs to go barefoot in the Orient or something, get his Karma straightened out.

Oates needs a triggerman. We should move MAB up to the RW. After that onetimer goal against the Leafs he definatley has a rocket shot. Seriously though who do we have that can deliver the onetimer? Dvo, Torres. I hate to break that line up but the only snipers on the team are all on the first line. Who???

Can the Oilers overcome the let down of losing the Classic already!!! Ever since that game we have played flat. Even with the 41 shots against the Avs. We didn't paint a pretty picture. We need to get the wheels moving again.

Laraque needs to step it up. He hasn't dominated a game this year and if he isn't going to play with intensity then he is useless. Horcoff has to be inches from the PB. Isbister strained his back in practice?

We need a solid game in front of Conklin to win.

I say 5 - 3 EDM...Oates gets his first and Torres gets a goal and a helper..hopefully i didn't jinx the team and those2 players....BTW BC newspaper said Isbister injured his back in practice but cant remember if he is out for today.

SJ has 8 ties in 23 games this year, so I'm going to venture a guess that this game ends in a tie: 2-2.

EDM Goals: Smyth, York.
SJ Goals: McCauley, Stuart.

I venture another guess that EDM deserves to win the game, but the PP blows a great chance near the end of the game, and so the tie.

Isbister is out with back spasms. Oates centres Chimera and Hemsky. Conklin starts. This according to sportsnet.

Who knows what the lines will be. The only line I know is Chimera - Oates - Hemsky. Don't know what the other lines are.

All three of them were singled out for that bag skate by MacT. Looks like the coach's motivation is working!

Am I reading this correctly? On NHL.com it says the shots are currently 14-0 in favour of the Oilers
