great situation for AM. Lots of up and coming talent. They need some help in goal, but they are a much better team than they have shown so far. Will be interesting. Good for him.

Good for him...interested to see if Avery does anything when the Kings play them this year...I mean, we all saw what he was willing to do to his own coach...just imagine what he'll do to AM...

Nice. Hopefully, he'll improve the Blues enough to pass the Kings and hand them a better draft pick.

Congrats to Andy! Good luck, I hope the Blues organization shows patience in giving you a chance to turn things around.

The question is not how the players will respond to Andy, but how Andy will respond to the players. Will he be the same coach & same style or will he have learned from his mistakes in LA...

p.s. this is not intended to start a debate about Murray's demise in LA.

It sounds like John Davidson may not have full confidence that Murray is "the guy," at least for the long-term, and that he just nabbed the best coach currently available. Andy might, like Kitchen, be on a short lease...

...but, then, the bar isn't set very high:

Is there any doubt?

Let's just face it, it's not the GM, not the coach, not the players, and not the ownership, it's a cursed franchise.

I think AM will do very well in St. Louis. I am and always was a big AM supporter, saying it loud and proud baby.

2 Questions

So is this the "shakeup" the Blues were looking for? Meaning they opted to make a coaching change as opposed to a trade.

Will Andy bring along Vanboxmeer? St. Louis' PP is dead last in the league BTW.

I really liked AM as our coach...but I was also ready to see him go. I wish him the best of luck in StL!

uhhh..alright.. I think Crawford is the right guy for the job... He brings a lot of passion to the Kings bench and I think in the long run everything is going to work out.. Now if we could just find a way to get rid of CLout....

At this point we were looking for anything. Anything. I'm sure there will be player movement but not 'til the latter part of the season when teams can factor in the salary cap. I'm expecting/hoping there can be some decent retooling for the Blues in the off season.

I just jumped over there to get you comments on Andy. I'm glad to read that he isn't the second coming of Keenan. Hopefully he has learned from some of his mistakes there and will work out well for us.

AM might be the perfect choice for the short-term. His coaching style and system lends itself much better to a tournament team situation than a multiseason commitment.

If he can get the players to buy into his system and treat the remaining games as an audition for next season, the team should do well.

....or they could just fold on him like they did last season.

Just hope he has a better staff around him then he did his last year in LA.

He gave the Blues a four-page handout Tuesday, outlining how he intended to create a belief system, how he evaluates players, what his coaching mandate is and what the players’ mandate is. Murray also gave that handout to the media, letting everybody know that his priorities are.

Click the following link and prepare to be "weirded out." It's absolutely surreal to see AM representing an organization other than the Kings.

Blues press conference

Edit: There's a very odd thing that he says in response to the first question (at the midway point of the stream): "I've never been a guy, before the season, with an 82-game schedule, that said we need 90 points or 95 points." That's, actually, something that he said every year with the Kings. As much of a ritual as unveiling the new slogan, he would always give his estimation for what it would take to make the playoffs that year. I can't imagine how he could manage to forget that.

Murray started a goalie playing in his first ever NHL game tonight.
