GDT: Doug MacLean Show 12/13/06 3:00 p.m. EST

To listen -> www.1460thefan.com
To email -> thebigshow@1460thefan.com
To call -> 614.821.1460

Potential Topics:

- The streak....oooooh the wonderful, wonderful streak!!
- Hitch / coaching change impact
- Norrena
- Injury Update
- Cannon
- "Oh Boy" and/or...."if I could jump in here"..
- Toronto
- MacLean's comments in the paper
- Expectations for remainder of season
- Trade talk, anything goin on?
- Kessel/Gainey/Andy Murray

Should be a fun one. I wonder if Hitch will take over another segment of this show like last week? Could be a sign that ole GMDM is phasing himself out (or at least trimming back his participation) of this show...?

Rumor has it that Doug will become less and less involved with the show, with Hitch taking over most of the airtime. Doug will likely only be on for one segment starting soon.

I'm actually disappointed with that. I would prefer to hear about possible transactions than game strategy, maybe that's just me.

Well, look at it this way - we can get all of our "juicy" info in a nice, compact, 15 minute segment instead of dragging it out over the course of an hour. I prefer the quick-hit bombs that Doug drops instead of his banter.

That is true it may become a more overall informative and productive show if they share duty.

I think we should push to replace Stinger with the bat. At least that makes some semblance of sense.

Sorry, bud, can't agree.

I would rather listen to the jiggling sound that the dancing fat guy's belly makes than the unctuous, self-inflating blather that spews from GMDM.

But I think you'll be happy. Hitchcock will be more than able to talk about player transactions. You can count on it.

No way is Hitch going to talk about player transactions. All you're going to get is "That's not my job. I just do what I can with the players I have." I think I've already heard that out of him about calling up someone from the Crunch.

He is not responding to E-mails anymore either......the methods of the old Doug are changing. I have no clue if this change was his idea or someone else's but Hitchcock will soon be the face of the "new and improved NH....oops, Blue Jackets"....

Yep

No doubt something is up.

At minimum doug gives up all involvement with hockey operations. best case scenario: he's on the next flight to PEI.

Best case scenario for some people, I disagree with that however, but whatever.

And yes, Hitch has already alluded to not being able to make the final decision on who was brought up from Syracuse, which would imply that Doug is still very much in control of all that. Personally, I'd rather listen to Doug for just a few minutes too because it gets more to the point. We want to hear about call ups, maybe some draft talk/prospect updates, signings, trades, all that fancy crap. We can't get that from Hitchcock. Sorry, but until Hitch is our GM he isn't the one who makes the final decision on all that stuff. He can let us know a few things, but overall he won't be the one working the phones with other teams or any of that. And during the season I doubt he's doing any scouting of our prospects or potential prospects.

Well I assumed that this would happen. Doug had his pee pee smacked by management and is now pouting like a little kid who got his toys taken away and smashed by his older brother. He should be jumping up and down now with joy joy joy...but he is not...because he got put in his place and hates the fact this team is winning. Everybody in the hockey world saw what was going on...but Doug.

I hope they already told him he was done at the end of the year.

Seriously? If so, that's just classless. In the words of Bill O'Reilly, "Cut his mike!"

Game last night was the 5th-highest rated FSN Ohio Jackets broadcast in franchise history.

5th best TV ratings last night in the history of the team -- including the inagural game. It was a 2.3. The sun is finally beginning to shine down on this squad.

How long is Doug going to consider us as a "young" franchise?
