I'd say we're a pretty young franchise... We're one of the last expansion teams, and our team is fairly young in terms of age of the players.

Called asked about the trade rumor involvong AC to Montreal..said he has had no talks w/ Montreal.

Said that after the Calgary game the coaching staff was very dissapointed in AC's performance...said the coaching staff talked to him.. Since then he has played well..especially with Fritsche and Chimera.

Said there are no plans to trade him...but it certainly sounded like he was listening there for a while....

1st round of draft may happen on Friday night...hasn't been annoucned and hasn't been finalized...but sounds like its a done deal.

Doug hopes he doesn't have a high pick.

Right after that firing that isn't going to happen if the team keeps performing? Now they're talking about the draft plans and everything... would Doug care about all that if he was told he was going to be fired? And does it sound like he's worried about his job? Sounds like he's a pretty happy camper.

I'm listening, but I can barely hear it in the coffee shop I'm in. What was that bizzarre interchange with the caller about, involving slapshots and radio?

That doesn't make any sense. Doug wants Columbus to lose.

Doug has started talks with Norrena's agent about a contract extension.

Doug said he has just started talks with Carter/Modin/Norrena about resigning... Specifically said he talked to Modin and his agent about resigning after last night's game..

Also Rimer was apparently very happy when Denis got shipped out although he didn't exactly come out and say it...said it could turn out to be one of the best trades of the year (for us anyways).

Ya, just ask Pubs and Espo, they seem to know quite a lot about Doug MacLean and hockey in general...

Believe he was referring to Freddy Norrena about the contract talk. I could be wrong.

I'd love to extend Modin, the guy is a player and he is one of those types that thrive in playoff hockey.

Ya, I'd like to see Modin back for sure. Norrena seems like a no brainer too, but if he holds out until the offseason and continues his stellar play, he could be worth quite a lot, or at least ask for a lot. Such a nice problem to have if you ask me.

If it's at the trade deadline and we're out of the picture, you wouldn't want to give him up for a nice prospect and\or draft picks? Modin's all right but you can pick those guys up anytime off the UFA market if you have the $$$$. Cheap, entry contract labor aint easy to come by though.

Not anymore. I am tired of that. I think Freddy Modin will be a solid player for another 3-5 years.

If we could extend him for 3 years at his current rate or slightly more I'd do it in a heartbeat. He's a player that can DO EVERYTHING on the ice.

Your reason is a good reason we need to get the feeler out now, to see if we can resign him. If we can't, we have to trade him.
