That wrist shot of his might be over there. Maybe he could find it?

Gives him a chance to play regularly and fine tune his game. I wouldn't be surprised if part of the deal was some direction of what his role would be, e.g., penalty kill, power play, first line, etc. Seems to me that he has some raw skills and just needs some experience. Let's DM and KH determine if he can be part of the long-term plans.

Or not.

And so Balastik goes the way of Andrej Nedorost.

We won't see Jaro again. Best of luck to him.

You were one of my favourite players in your short stay here Jaro. You single-handedly won games for us last year and you have THE wrist shot.

Good luck buddy.

Passing, speed, hitting, and defense were just not at an NHL level.

I have dreams about that shot though. Please someone genetically put Jaro's wrist shot on Picard.

Every game the Jackets lose in a shootout, I will pine for him.

not to mention every time we don't score on a 5 on 3 because one of our d-men can't get it on net (though the shooting has improved tremendously as of late)

Good luck to him. He will always be remembered for his shootour heroics over his disappearing act at even strength.

I still question why we ship out a guy who has a goal and an assist in limited playing time of 8 games and is a proven sniper in shootouts yet we keep a guy who has no goals, no assists for no points in 25 games. He also was stoned twice by an amateur goaltender from the firemens team on 2 breakaways! Oh yea his fists, they win games in the 'new' NHL!

shelley's too popular for us to get rid of him. sad, but true. all the people that love hockey only for the fighting might not come to the games anymore. what a shame

Makes sense. There is no place for him at the current lineup, so Jackets might as well get him some more experience from Sweden. After all, he goes to play the game again he has used to in Czech and probably in a leading role. AHL and it's gritty style might not help Balastik as much as Elitserien will do. Hopefully.

I have to say I doubt he will be back in a CBJ uniform...however, the fact that he was shipped to HV 71 in Sweden could mean it really is just an "assignment" similar to Syracuse. He has always in the Czech league, for Zlin in fact, and for them to send him to Sweden is a bit curious I think. I wouldn't be totally shocked if he was back at camp next year, though his contact does only go for a year, so who knows. I just find it strange that he wouldn't go back to the team he was so successful with...

we'll have to wait and see. I always thought he should have been given a solid shot on a scoring line, and I echo the sentiments about Shelley.

I think it's just a similar assignment, probably talked over with Balastik does he even want to go there. HV71 is 1st in the Elitserien standings, so they were not looking an emergency player. Hopefully he gets a lot of ice time there so that he could return with more experience.

If only Hitchcock knew hockey well enough to give this poor kid ice time... If only Hitchcock weren't a puppet of MacLean who HAS to play Shelley because he owns a timeshare in PEI... If only we played Shelley less we'd be better than 6-3 since the coaching change... If only we played this guy our players would be better protected... If only we could get those buffoons out of the stands who want to see barbaric fisticuffs...

Oh yes, if only...

See ya later Jaro. He's got some things going for him and at least he got loaned to a good team. He won us some games last year in the shootout but it's time to move on...

so anyway, bye and best of luck to you Bala.

I got only one little thing to say about shelley: when Jody "mangles" a pinkie... he's out for two games. Duvie breaks a digit? and he's out for six weeks...

hmmm I know when Shelley fights I'm far easier at heart about him mangling his hands than I would be about ANYONE ELSE on the team. Jody does what he's told, he does it well, and he's a veteran leader on this team. Enough with the other crap... this team has all the skill it will EVER need. We only have ONE Jody.

And where does that leave our Finnish goaltender???

(edit) Wow you can really see the dent the caller on the DM show was talking about. Right on the double bar too, ouch.
