They have been doing (H and F) very well last 4-5 games.

Kopecky was rounding out his game and role on the team very well before he got injured. At that time I was thinking that he was ahead of Hudler and Filppula at his role.

Doing what by himself up front? Turning the puck over? He hasn't been scoring, and in the two games I've seen recently, that whole line has been pretty bad. Frequently against Montreal and Colorado when I saw that they (Mtl and Col) were getting scoring chances and keeping the puck in the offensive zone, Lang's line was on the ice.

This conversation had to do with the playoffs, not his recent play in the regular season.

Most icetime for Hudler, but Filppula had nights similar to this his first few up with the team.

Decent,
But nothing to write home about. For you scoring fanatics, it was a 1-1 tie in regulation.

Flip was also sick last game, which is too bad because I'd have liked to see a healthy Flip get that playing time. He is the creative force on that line and without him Hudler isn't going to be great. Hudler is a sniper with some good one on one moves but he lacks the speed and size to create things by himself.

When is Kopecky scheduled to be back?

BTW Filppula and Hulder are doing really fine.

TOI for the Hudlum last night against the Flames: 11:25

Filppula: 10:37

When was the last time Huds got more IT than Filppula?

Kopecky was slated to be back in late March... so maybe not at all this season?

That’s two in a row isn’t it?

I don't know--- that's why asked. Now I have to go look up the TOI for St. Louis. Hang on....

10:20 and 9:41 respectively for Huds and Flip.

I wonder…

Just a coincidence or has Flip done something to displease Babcock?

More likely that they want to "showcase" Huds before the deadline.

Giving someone an extra 90 seconds of ice time is "showcasing"?

In the case of Babs when it comes to Hudler. Yes.

Well, there is a reason I used "showcasing" rather than showcasing.

I thought it was late Feb/early March.

He was injured on 15 December, and at the time it was said he'd be out for 10-12 weeks. Never had had collar brone broken, and his apparently had multiple breaks. So I think mid-March is the earliest he could return to action.

Filppula and Hudler

What does everyone think of them now? They have played about 2/3s of the season now. I think they made some progress for about 1-2 months ago, but not much sicne. While Hulder has scored some goals and showed that he is learning, Filppula has not done much lately.

True, but what can you do with 5 minutes of ice time

Not much. And really, he's only out there to prevent the opposition from scoring. Filppula has said on a number of occasions that his main role is to play solid defensively and look after things in his own zone.
