he looks to be on his way out of phoenix, do you think the flyers will inquire about his services?

I think Roenick was good when he was with us, however he really hasn't been good in the last two years. If we could get him for 1/2 his salery it would be worth it because he is a good leader, but he also brings baggage.

Roenick has nothing left in the tank. He should retire and go into the broadcasting booth.

With all our injuries, I'd take him at 600K for the rest of the year. He plays with intensity and his offense might not be what it used to, but he can still put a big hit on somebody and the way our team and our fans are, it could change the course of a game.
I wouldn't call him a locker room cancer and I don't think his play would be any worse than what we've already seen from our guys this year. We're dead last. At this point, what could it hurt to bring him in for the rest of the year at the price of a farmhand?

Yawn, let's bring in more retreads then. How about Joel Otto, Paul Coffey, etc, etc. Hell, maybe Berube could be a player/coach.

To answer the question: He has struggled too much since leaving the Flyers.

The link above didn't work for me. Here is one from Spector's site:

Roenick says he’ll retire at end of season

By Matt Paulson, Tribune -- December 13, 2006

Jeremy Roenick can see the sun is quickly approaching its setting point on his long, illustrious, controversial and always entertaining career. “End of the (NHL) year, absolutely (I’ll retire),” Roenick said Wednesday at the airport in Vancouver before the Coyotes headed home following their 0-2 road trip.
“The way it seems to be going right now, I don’t think anybody would want to give me another chance to tell you the truth.”

After Roenick stormed out of General Motors Place before Tuesday’s game upon learning he would be scratched due to back spasms, he could be out of chances with the Coyotes as well.

“I think reality is (Tuesday) night he made a mistake,” said coach Wayne Gretzky, who announced he is holding Roenick out of tonight’s game in favor of Mike Ricci.

Roenick was benched by head coach Wayne Gretzky due to a back injury. Rather than stay at the arena, the veteran forward elected to watch part of the game at a nearby restaurant while having dinner.

I would take him back in a heart-beat. Mike him every night, it'll give us something to laugh with rather than at.

I agree with this.

If there is no cap to be saved for trade deadline and the alternative is like Matt Ellision of something, I'd say yeah.

I have a great visual of Roenick sitting there in a restaurant chewing on his food and making random and obnoxious comments to himself about the game.

Gretzky has no balls. The two of them kissed and made up and he might be in tonight's lineup after all. www.arizonarepublic.com. Go to sports section, under coyotes .

Did you actually think Gretzky had balls?

JR is the funniest guy to ever lace up a pair of skates in the NHL. We could seriously use some comic relief around here. For that alone, I think he's worth his weight in gold.

Miami, post that youtube piece with him and Therien doing the whole pie in the face thing...."Yes, tomorrow Bundy's car will be on top of the Skate Zone because I'm the only one who would actually pay someone to do it." I laugh my arse off every time.

Found it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAp5_...elated&search=

Dang, I love this guy.

No thread that mentions JR is complete without this:

http://www.philadelphiaflyers.com/si...040504/1754.rm

I love two things about it:

a) the last two posssessions by the Leafs are thwarted by backchecking; a good reminder for all of us (myself inclusive) who tend to think from time to time that defense is the sole province of defensemen, and

b) check out the line change for LeClair after his rush with Recchi: he's still twenty to twenty-five feet inside the Leafs end and his replacement (the Russian #23 whose name escapes me) is ten feet on the other side of the red line headed into his own end to backcheck Sundin. It's like a sixty foot line change.

I love it!

Welcome. Every time I watch it I see something more.

#23 would be Zhamnov? At 00:18 of the video he separates Sundin from the puck with a wicked slash that you can clearly hear on the audio, sounds like one of the them had a aluminum shaft?

Ahhh well, days gone by.
