I have Malone on my fantasy team. Hope Crosby keeps it up.

Throw in Gerber, he can be a mentor for Fleury.

History in the making. I love how he has given Malone his first 4 goals of the season in the last two games.

I take Ovechkin over Crosby any day of the week.

I'm almost certain that Pittsburgh will have him signed to an extension before he actually becomes a RFA. Pittsburgh has no intention of letting him go anywhere, and, Crosby seems pretty happy with the situation in Pittsburgh.

Gradually that comparison will change, and in ten years it won't even be debatable.

If I was building a traveling showcase exhibition team I'd take Ovechkin. If I was building a championship NHL team, I'd take Crosby.

I think it's only a matter of time before he lands in Montreal. Now the players have all the say.

Crosby is involved in building a championship team from scratch in Pittsburgh. One of the attributes that makes Crosby so special is that he is extremely competitive. I don't think he'll go anywhere until that team accomplishes its goals, and, I think the objective is going to be more than just one Stanley Cup.

I think the whole idea of playing for your favourite team as a child is overblown. It's what all the Leaf fans were predicting would happen, and, it hasn't panned out. They get some players, but, usually the ones that don't have many other options.

I'm most curious as to what amount he signs for in his next contract. He'll be able to command the max, and if Pittsburgh isn't willing to pay it, someone else will, and pay the compensation. But, I'm predicting that he'll sign for less. He knows that guys like Malkin and Staal will need contracts the following year, and, the best way for the team to remain competitive is if there's enough money for everyone.

Clearly Crosby is a winner. He cares about winning and and competing and being the very best player in the world. That puts him in the Jordan, Woods, Gretzky type of athlete. Mario became that kind of athlete later after the cancer scare. But Crosby and Gretzky always had it even as younger players.

It would not surprise me if Crosby took $5 million a year as an RFA to give the Pens more money to spend so they can win. Clearly he could demand and get the max in Pittsburgh but he is going to make so much money in endorsements that he might rather give his team more of a chance to win. Of course if Crosby doesn't get the max it would be under the implied condition that the club would spend near to the max and be Cup contenders.

We already get enough secondary assists from Spezza. Pass.

Hey, if secondary assists is the name of the game, we should just make Corvo a forward.

I still like Corvo though (but I didn't see the Nashville game).

AO on the other hand, isn't, and will most likely be gone from Washington when he's RFA

What are you basing that on? I haven't seen anything to indicate that he wasn't enjoying himself in Washington. His play certainly indicates that he's inspired.

Ovech has stated in the past he wants to be traded. Free Agency would be his opportunity since the coach isn't trading him. There's also something the coach said recently that also indicates he won't be staying, but I forget what that was at the moment.

When?

He seemed pretty happy in the interviews I heard him to be a Cap.

Give me a link or a source. that sounds like something that would have been all over HF.

Agreed. If he said anything close to that, it would have generated a lot of press.

I don't think he did, his coach mentioned he wanted to be traded before the deadline last year. He isn't pulling a Yashin where he's blabbing about it and being miserable about it. And I don't remember that far back to provide a link.
