Eye injury?

So what exactly is up with Koivu's eye injury? Seems like he's having the best season of his career! He's on pace for 80 pts and at least 25 goals!

Where's all the posters who this summer were saying he'd be a shadow of his former self and we'd be better off trading him? Where are those saying he's overpaid?

Koivu, the way he's playing, is an absolute steal for his salary. Less than $5 mil for a while still, and he's tops in points, goals, assists, PP, PK, faceoffs, EVERYTHING!

Seems like the eye injury made him better! My theory is that he doesn't see opposing forwards as well, so he assumes they aren't there and just goes to the net.

He's God and if he goes down... well I don't want to be negative but if he goes down, all hope is lost.

Its the fact that this year he's not going in the coner as much, can set up those nice pass and put a fiew in. Help having Lats and or Higgins on your wing.

You're probably right, but WaffleDave's theory is funnier and gets my vote.

Oh, and after last night's game, Saku is on pace for 32 goals.

Ever since his year off because of Cancer, he's been relatively healthy. Last year he had his groin problem but that was more because of the new pace of the game and the lockout being tough for players to keep in game shape.

I really hope Higgins will become a center and excel at it, because we are so screwed if Koivu goes down.

I think he was forced to change his style slightly because of his peripheral vision being diminished.
Instead of always trying to set up a linemate, he's going straight towards the net and shootng the puck a lot more.

This reminds me of the time Koivu created the heavens and the earth. He was having trouble seeing, kind of like with the eye injury, so he said "let there be light" and took care of that.
