I honestly don't prefer him on the top line, but I do agree that he's been pressing a little. On the other hand, it sounds like he's clicking well with Alfredsson and Vermette, so hopefully it's just a matter of time before they all get rolling. Actually, it sounds like Vermette's just missing right now too, but at least they're getting chances.

(Do they look as good as they sound, btw? I was a little upset that Schaefer was removed from that line, but right now I'm ready to change my mind.)

Maybe the pressure is getting to him, with the losing streaks here and there.

I have confidence in him to get through it. But I hear ya, i miss seeing him put them in the net
It just seems that last year, if Eaves had the puck in the slot, it was automatic.

This year, it's into the goalie's chest or high and wide.

I'm not sure what you mean by that.

If you mean, the Ottawa squad over the past few years, I disagree.

We had a lot of talent, and just didn't pull it together. But that's a whole different discussion, one which is lengthy and I don't have energy for.

That was some hardcore collapsing to end the game.

I was pretty impressed with us this game. We looked good towards the end and Razor was incredible.

Stats to think about:

Vermette the only Ottawa Senator even close to having a postive faceoff % with a 61%. 6 for 8 against Drury, one of the better faceoff takers in the league.

Vochenkov with 8 blocked shots.

Neil with 12 hits.

Forth line got a grand total of 0:00 icetime. Combined. Even if you add Gerber!

'Tis a shame we are this inconsistent.

Good road effort by the team. Emery was the difference (again).

Why did they not play like this in the playoffs? I mean Buffalo had way more chances and were in our zone for a lot of the game but still, timely goals and blocked shots are amazing. Plus, Emery is insane.

Spezza's goalscoring > Heatley

Who'da thought Spezza would have as many goals as Heatley this far into the season? Spezza has more goals than Kovalchuk!!

Good game guys.. I bet Buffalo gets its butt kicked by Nashville too. Emery really did stand on his head this game but yes, consistency is needed...

P.S. What is up with Toronto kicking the NYR (apostrophe)s butts? 8-2.

Because Emery wasn't insane in the playoffs, he was average.

And the team had no confidence in him. If they don't have confidence in him now, they should all be shot.

The problem I have with Emery is that the 4 highlight reel saves he makes are all created by him, with poor plays. The 3 pad stops in a row were great to watch, but they were all low shots off his right pad that he kicked back out into the slot everytime. Shot, rebound, shot, rebound, shot, hits Fisher or else it would have been in the net, and is then cleared.

The second HUGE save of the night was the blocker save on Drury. Emery over commits on the puck to his left, it gets dished down low to Drury on his right, Emery scrambles back to his right post and makes a great save.

The last 2 minutes there were some awful rebounds. It's nice to see him only letting 1 in a game, but it's only a matter of time before he gets burnt playing with fire. I noticed the highlights from the Detroit game being similar. Huge saves to make up for poor decisions. To be fair I only saw the highlights for the Detroit game, but I just don't think you can survive like that, long term.

I love Haikus. I spent almost an entire day writing them in that other thread.

I really don't understand Murray's problem with McAmmond. He was one of our best forwards at the start of the year, now he isn't good enough to play? Makes no sense to me.

Combined 0:00 is ridiculous, especially given our injury problems.
