How about a Red Jersey?

Let's face it - The Original Home and away jerseys are growing old. It has been 6 years, and yes, I know there were changes to the shoulder pacthes, but it is time for a new change.

Everyone loves the 3rd jerseys, so I propose to make them the Jackets' home sweaters.

Then for a new 3rd jersey, how about a.........

RED JERSEY?

Correct me if I'm wrong but teams aren't allowed to have a 3rd jersey next season are they?

You are correct -- no 3rds next year.

Also if you check out the blueline pretty all of their news merchandise has the 3rd jersey logo on it. I think its basically a lock we'll be seeing that logo as the primary next year. It couldn't come soon enough if you ask me.

I'll pass on a dominant red jersey of any kind though.

Honestly, Id like to see the old white and blue ones dropped. Make the new Blue one the home one. Make a white one have the same design as the current blue one but with reversed colors. And I guess a red one, maybe just not as bright as the red on the shorts. I think the red should just come less dominant we are the BLUE jackets.

Reebok is replacing the existing game jerseys next year with a new 4-ply jersey that will be more form fitting, and also water resistant (that alone makes me want to pick it up for rec league games).

Because of the amount of jerseys they will have to produce in a short time, they worked out an agreement with the NHL to not produce any 3rds next year, so they won't have to support all those jersey types in the first year.

Speculation is that the CBJ 3rd logo is so well loved far and above the original, that it will replace the original logo. I've heard nothing official on my end, but in talks I've had with people, I think this is an unspoken truth that will be occuring. Perhaps they'll annouce it leading up to the draft.

Iggy. I thought I read it on NHL.com Next year is the debut of the new lighter form fitting uniforms. I think they want that as the focus next year and not a new logo for any team.

I have heard the socks will not be vertical. The jersey produced at the Olympics were made by Nike. The new ones will be Reebok.

Also.. I typed this before by I'll type it again...reasons why I think its a lock the new jerseys will have the 3rd jersey logo:

1. They replaced the carpet in the locker rooom with the 3rd jersey logo.
2. The new official gear that the coaches wear during practices and players wear during some interviews have the 3rd jersey logo.
3. The draft logo is a play off the 3rd jersey logo.
4. Going to new jerseys next year and the draft is here -- perfect time to make an announcement regarding the change.
5. Check out the blueline -- basically everything new has the 3rd jersey logo.

For those reasons and more like my hunch that the 3rd jerseys outsell the traditional logo make it it a lock IMHO.

There are prototypes of the new CBJ jerseys floating around. They are the 3rd logo. Still being tinkered with from my understanding, but I'd be very surprised if the original CBJ logo is anything more than a shoulder patch on the new jerseys.

So does that mean that after next season teams will be allowed to have third jerseys?

I'm not sure how I feel of a reversed third jersey for an away jersey. Has anyone seen prototype photos for that?

Actually check out the Junior Jackets white jerseys to get an idea of what they'd look like. They sell them in the blueline -- I think they look very sharp. Much MUCH better than what we have now.

Also I'm sure a new 3rd will be introduced down the line. To tempting of a revenue stream not to.

You mean all teams reveal jerseys or just how the form-fitting jerseys look like in general?

Red isn't a bad idea as an alternate. Afterall, we wear white jerseys on the road and nobody has ever said "hey, aren't they supposed to be BLUE jackets?"

Isn't one of the team's practice jerseys red?
It could be a nice alternate, like Notre Dame's green jerseys.
