Dispatch article a bad joke?

Berard eyes return in about a month.

Please tell me it was just a silly mistake.

I had to look at that twice myself. I thought they were doing an article about his eye injury from long ago. Someone needs practice on writing headlines.

I suspect ignorance... humor, even bad humor, requires brainwave activity.

Seriously though, sounds good about Berard.

That article brought to mind the night they were playing CBJ Match Game during a time out. The player was Berard and the question was _____ vision.

It's so easy to make fun of the Disgrace when Arace whips out sentences like this: "The Jackets scored this goal in the first period where Sergei Fedorov and David Vyborny played catch coming through the neutral zone, Fedorov dropped a pass and took a defenseman away with him and Vyborny then rifled the puck down across the slot to Rick Nash, who banked in on the Detroit goal like an A-10 Warthog and rammed a backhand through Dominik Hasek."
(Yes, that's one sentence). He think he's Kerouac or something?

Ugh: "It was also a game of drama, perhaps too much drama for the Blue Jackets, who had a three-goal lead after the first period and got out-executed to the point of esophageal stricture in the second period, and parts of the third."
Someone get a thesaurus for the holidays?

At least Portzline can fill an article without resorting to cheap column-padding, flowery prose.

Can I try?

Czech Out Vyborny, The Scoring Leader.

Scoring, Speed the Sum of Chimera's Parts.

Creme Brule.

(izzat the well documented "Czech scoring" in the biblical sense?)

Of all the media outlets in town, the Dispatch gives the CBJ and hockey in general, the best coverage of all of them. I won't knock them, they seem to be able to see around the scarlet & grey glasses and realize there is another sport in this city.
