So, anyone wanna breakdown your Preds vs. MY Sabres?
Yes, my forum name says it all...
Hey, I try to update the Admirals for you from Milwaukee...so, does anyone want to break down the game Thursday? you must know how stoked I am for this - I am forgoing the Vikings can of 'wup ***' on the Packers (I live in Wisconsin and LOATHE the Green and Gold!) to see Buffalo vs. Nashville...
Of course - Sabres will win...What's your answer for speed - racer Afinigenov?
Briere? C'mon...Vanek? In the top 20 in scoring in the league and the guy is on our #2 line!
Miller? Will be a Wall for you to shoot against. We might even put in Marty (Biron) to give ya' chance!
(Campbell just scored for us! 1 - 0 on the HABS! He's in my pool too!)
Of course I am your friend - just starting a friendly conversation for the board!
I dont care what the sales figures say, those jerseys are still hideous.
Yeah, I'm not a huge fan, but then again I didn't like the red/black 'goat head' ones from the 90s either...I talked to a former Sabre who is involved in the Alumni association pretty heavily, and he kind of said that the team really needs to constantly market to the 'younger' crowd. The kids just getting through high school and into college right now don't really remember the famous 'blue/gold crossed swords' from 1970 - 1995...I thought that if Toronto, Montreal, Boston, Chicago, etc. could keep the traditional look - we could too. But, I guess I agree that marketing is just as important. And, looking at the figures, and seeing that they sold 14,000 season tix in an 18,050 seat building, they are doing okay...You have to remember that it is amazing that a city of less than 296,000 in town, and about 1,000,000 in the surrounding 7 counties can support the Bills and the Sabres as they do...I lived there for the first 18 years of my life, and it was crazy how we supported our teams!
See ya' Thursday night!
This should be a good matchup. I think the Sabres play in an easier conference, and I also believe that the Eastern conference has little in the way of defensive talent. The Western Conference has far superior teams, in terms of defensive ability, and therefore, I think when comparing Nashville and Buffalo - the individual stats should be taken with a grain of salt. I highly doubt Vanek would have as much goals as he does this year, playing in the western conference.
With that out of the way, this should be a great game. Miller is better than Mason, but Mason is a terrific backup. Mason's tendency to give up rebounds will be a problem, as the Sabres are tremendously fast and aggressive. I would say the offense's are roughly on the same level, whereas the defense would be a slight edge to Nashville. Still, I think the Sabres play their system better than the Predators do.
I expect the score to be 5-3, and specialty teams to decide the outcome.
Given the thread starters handle, are you refering to the MilAds or the Slugs?
That weird looking pirate skull thingee...they featured it in THN a couple of weeks ago. Apparently they liked it...I ordered my lettered/numbered jersey (I have to support them as a season tix holder) 4 months ago. Because of a problem with the vendor I still have not gotten it! Firing off a complaint letter to Harris Turer and the staff as we speak...
I think it was Phil Whitliff (former MilAds GM) on a Milwaukee morning radio show today pimping some upcomming games. He was talking about the new merchandise and the increase in sales. He (or whomever it was) was talking a bit about how tough it is to see Haydar in Chicago.
I'm not big into wearing sports jerseys, well, purchasing them anyway. If I happen across something like a complimentary Avs practice jersey, a raffle winning at the local rink, or "accidentally" forgetting my mother's maiden name and my street address to get a free Preds t-shirt at the GEC, then I will seize the opportunity. Heck the only GB Packer-wear I have is a black knit hat with a very small "G" to keep the cranium toasty during the winter - even that was a gift.
Preds Vs. Sabres - should be a good run-and-gun match.
