The Rangers are sending down Ryan Callahan to Hartford and calling up 29-year-old Brad Isbister for the trip to Florida. I’ll have more in a moment…
Wow... just wow.

EDIT: Isbister's stats since joining the Pack:

He-he... Someone was saying Isbister was a strictly AHL trade. Gallahan could have gotten a flu, BTW. In this case he'd better be off the roster.

Still trying to rationalize this one. Is this a commitment to the Isbister rehab project? He can't be sent back down without clearing waivers, so if the project succeeds, we're stuck with him, which would seem to complicate the Ortmeyer return.

Who ****ing knows, Melrose. This team is one big cluster**** after another. What a ****ing joke.

I think that this move infuriates me more than anything in the last 5 or so years of rooting for this stupid *** organization.

why?

Cally played very well last night! For a team struggling to find offense outside of the big 2 this certainly doesn't help.

This organization is so frustrating

well, isbister is better suited to receive 3-8 mins a night than a young guy with upside like Callahan.

I hope Cally stays down there, gets 50 goals in the AHL, and is then traded along with Prucha for something.

Isbister...

has not played well in Hartford, from what I've seen.

maybe the Pack have important games coming up, that is the only thing I can think of, they should have sent Orr down instead

Our prospects better hope they are traded.

When's the countdown to when we start wishing Sather to have a heart attack and Renney to be fired?

Orr cannot be demoted without passing through waivers either.

Upon his trade, I thought Isbister would be up before too long BUT he has done nothing to earn a recall and Callahan being sent down for him AND while you still have a Colton Orr on the roster is head scratching.....

Only reason I can see is that, the Rangers expect a everybody back by Thursday and no reason to keep Callahan around to collect splinters (better jon for Orr or Isbister) when HARTFORD has 4 games in 6 nights and 7 games in ten nights beginning Friday...

I'm getting the feeling there are going to be some big changes near the 1st of the year...

I thought Ozo expulsion takes care of Ort return. I wouldn't worry about Callahan demotion. He was sent down not because of his play. He'll be back soon. I'm curious about Isbister being called up. What is it there?

Why not? He's dirt cheap. And we do not have any replacement for him as an enforcer.

If all of the regulars are expected back for the two game trip,Callahan is better off playing in Hartford

We do not need an enforcer. In today's NHL, that type of player is no longer needed.

Yep, Hartford has a slew of games coming up...After those 7games in 10, I expect ORTS to be permantley back with the Rangers and, if we make a trade where we send people out (which I think we will), possibly Callahan or whoever else might thrive in this stretch might be recalled.
