Gotta disagree Hall. I think a team would pick up Orr he is young and doesn't make much. I think there are a few teams that would make a claim for him. Somewhere along the line I'm sure there's a team that could use a big kid that knows his role as a 4th line winger who can fight with the best of them. I would like to see the Isles actually pick him up if it did happen as they have no big heavyweight. Yeah Asham is a good fighter but he's a middleweight and Simon although playing well this year doesn't want to fight anymore. But the only guy i could see getting knocked off for him would be maybe Bates or Hilbert who has been picking it up of late for the isles. I know the likes of Park, Hilbert and Bates don't seem like much but Nolan has the team playing pretty well so far this year and each player knows his exact role.

At the least...With a healthy line-up (which we might be on Thurs and Sat)we're

Straka-Nylander-Jagr
Cullen-Immo-Shanny
Hossa-Betts-Ward
Prucha-Holly-Hall..

So Isbister is just there to be with Orr "just in case".--not a spot for Callahan.,....Maybe they can fight in practice so that Orr can get a win? Just kidding..

With Cullen back, sending down Callahan makes sense. What DOESN'T make sense is calling up Isbister over Helminen who can be a 4th line center. Now, either Hollweg is moving down a line or Immo is getting 5 minutes a night. Strange, considering Renney praised both players' performance last night and now one will get reduced ice-time. I also prefer Hollweg on the wing. Why not give Helminen a chance? He's projected as a D.Moore type player.

Isbister hasn't done anything to distinguish himself in Hartford. I really don't get this move. Maybe he proves everyone wrong and makes the underwhelming Hall trade-bait. I won't hold my breath on that though.

I forgot about that. Maybe the idea is to lose him on re-entry waivers?

what kind of game does this guy play? Is he like Orr who will try to fight but probably lose, or like hossa who is completly useless?

He is big but very lazy. Throws a hit here or there doesn't fight can get a few more goals than Orr.

I don't think so Melrose. i think they want to bring him up to try to pick up some scoring. It's Straka/NYlander who is hurt/Shanny and Jagr then nothing from the rest of the team. They have to start getting a few goals from other lines or they are gonna be in trouble maybe they think Isbister can give the soem spark being back in the NHL. He might have a good game or two but pretty sure he'll get back to his lazy play self that has been following him in the last 5 years.

Personally, I do not understand why it is necessary to send Callahan down and bring up Isbitster. Callahan looked good enough in his play to warrant a look on the failing bottom-2 lines.

I think it might at this point a matter of getting him more time at Hartford, especially with the Holidays rather than keeping him around for a few minutes.

...brad isbister...

I'm officially organizing a loyal fan-driven overthrow of New York Rangers management.

I can name a good amount of fans who would do a better job than these ****heads.

8 games and 1 goal...he's better than, J. Ward, Hossa, Hall and Betts who haven't scored this month. That's 10 games each if you're counting.

the real reason for Isbister

Don't you realize that Isbister has 99 career goals? Sather is giving him a chance to score that historic #100 so that they can have another center ice ceremony!!!!

Nothing will ever change until Sather is gone and knowing how Dolan is loyal to incompetents (see: Isiah Thomas as well as the invisible Glen), our future doesn't look all that grand.

But why not simply keep him and play him on the 3rd line? It's not like Hossa, Hall or Ward have shown anything significant in that role.

Does he have to clear waivers? I thought he was on a two-way contract...

I'd much rather have Isbister being a healthy scratch every game than Callahan.

NY player management is like throwing s**t at a wall, eventually some will stick, (mainly the larger pieces). Right now, Isbister is the largest turd in Hartford, and Sather figures he'll be able to stick around and play a bit, and with most players due back, Callahan needs to play games and minutes, and he would only rob Colton of his 2.5 minutes per game. Isbister on the 4th, does allow Renney to roll all his lines, something he won't do with his current players

W T F guys, calm down. This place is comming apart. Its embarassing.

They are calling up Isbister as a safty percaution, and sending Callahan down so he can play and develop, while the odds of Isbister playing are minimal, and if he by any chance would, its for 3 minutes.

We don't need to wait and see. You don't exactly need to be related to Einstein to see whats gooing on...

What a circus.

Good move. A guy who can be a healthy scratch yet can fill in when needed. On Thursday...assuming we have the same guys available as Tuesday...I'd go:

Prucha-Ward-Jagr
Hossa-Straka-Shanahan
Hollweg-Betts-Hall
Isbister-Immonen-Orr

This is exactly like complaining on Renney for bringing up Chris Holt over Montoya last season.
