Great article, as a former Nordiques fan who had the chance to see Peter play live, I enjoyed every little bit of it, THANK YOU

I am WAY more impressed with him than I am with Wolski. I would have thought it would be the other way around at the beginning of training camp but Stastny is just so mature for his age whereas Wolski is going to take a bit longer to fully develop.

Wolski doesn't have nearly the work ethic that Paul has. He doens't seem to have that desire in him to win battle for the puck, especially loose pucks.

I hope he stays his entire career here too. Like that article said he may have been born to play in the NHL, but I think he was also born to play on the Avs. He's quickly developed into my favorite player on the team, and I hope he will be for a long time.

It does seem like that doesn't it? With his father having been one of the franchise greats, then him playing at DU, then getting drafted by the Avs... it just fits.

That's why I find the Canuck jealousy about the Avs drafting him somewhat misplace in thise case.

Probably the easies player in the draft for the Avs to scout and enormous fan pressure to draft him, with the pick from the Ballard trade as well.

Imagine that trade without picking up Stastny

I said it at the time Stastny was a betterpick at 44 than he would have been at 52.

Wolski is also attempting to fill a role as more of a power forward...and those types of players usually take longer to develop. (although i think if he tried he could become more of a modano-type player) Stastny is more of a grinder and a playmaker, an easier role to fill if u have the work ethic that he has.

I don't think Wolski has any intention of playing a power forward role. He shys away from contact, let alone initiates it himself. Apparently coaches have been trying to get him to play a more physical game for years because of his size, but it's just not in his nature. I just wish he would be a little more tenacious out there. He doesn't have to go bull people over, but he's just way too passive out there, and looks like he's worried about getting hit all the time. Every time a defender comes near him in the neutral zone, or in the corners he loses the puck.
