He's a decent backup. And that's about as far as the positives I see in him go.

His flaws have been magnified a bit over the last week because he has been forced to play games that would have gone to Lundqvist had he not caught the flu.

I don't blame Weekes, right now I am more disasppointed (yet again) in the team's defense.

Anyone interested in giving him a shot over Weekes?
I have only seen one Wolf Pack game this season (last Fri), but in that game Valiquette looked exactly like Weekes in the plast two games by the fact that he was giving up HUGE rebounds to the corners of the slot.

Weekes has also seemed to be "lazier" these last few games. I can't remember ever seeing a professional goaltender stand up and slack off anywhere near as much as he was in the third period of the FLA game.

Puck is being battled for in the corner, he's standing up and not hugging the post. Puck goes out to the hash marks in front of the boards, he's still standing up. There were a few times that he only got into his stance just as the puck was being shot.

There were also a couple plays where the puck was thrown at the net and nearly caught Weekes off gaurd and wasn't ready for it. He almost always ended up flopping on the ice to stop it.

When will teams learn

never get a guy who played net for the nucks

it is a goalie graveyard and nobody is ever the same again

although==Weekes has always sucked and been a bit of a flake

And if Weekes had come off the last two games Lundqvist has I'm sure you'd be ready to say he kicks puppies and beats children too right?

Take one look at Weekes on that ice and the way his teammates interact with him and the relationship him and Lundqvist and you'll see a guy who means a lot to this team and isn't half bad on the ice.

Lundqvist was about as close to a goalie god last year as you can get and he is struggling with this team, that mean's there's little more than snowballs chance in hell for Weekes.
