On the same topic, sort of, what's the dumbest/most embarassing thing you've done in sports ?

Back in my ball playing days, I was on 1st base, when a sharp grounder was hit to short, it was a nice easy 2 hopper, cleanly fielded, about 2 steps from the base, I chugged down towards 2nd, knowing I was out, but valiantly thru myself into a wild slide, hoping to distract and prevent the double play. I guess I ran with my head down, because afterwards, I got up, brushed myself off and trotted back to the bench. Their 1st baseman walked over and tagged me out. I guess somehow the shortstop threw the ball away and the 1st baseman retrieved it and no one said a word when I strolled back to the bench. Yeah, I felt a bit stupid.

Once I was the leadoff hitter in a friendly game. I had not played in a while. I got at bat and hit a solid double. I then proceeded to run to third base...

I recall in Atom, once, as a goalie I had learned that covering the puck to get a whistle was an effective and timely move. It does not, however, work well when you pounce on an icing call and sprawl with your head down waiting for a whistle while the opposing team's centre strolls down the ice at a leisurely pace and pops an uncovered puck into an empty net. I got the whistle, but not for the reason I had expected. I'll never forget the shame I felt.

Not me but a guy on my team in atom. He got a penalty and durring his time in the box the period ended and teams switched sides. When his penalty was over he got a breakaway on our own net.
From center ice on...the crowd, the bench everyone was yelling. The goalie was going crazy but...all to no avail. Thankfully the goalie stopped it. What was funnier was that the rebound went behind the net and he tried to wrap it arround. And finaly he realized his mistake and he carried the puck out of the zone (He was still alone in our zone because all the players on the ice had kinda froze and werent sure what to do when he got tha "break away").
