NY wins tonight to stop the 4 L streak. Tampa came back to score 3 in the third their last game, and NY has to be vigilant of that, as they gave up three in the third, which cost them the last game. Better coaching by Tom, and a no melt-down period by NY, with 60 minutes of hockey, should make for a good game.

I understand Shanny...

likes to kill penalties, but Renney needs to be a coach and do what's best for his team over an 82 game schedule. He has other competent PKers on this team who are being underutilized and I believe Shanny's been visibly tired over the last few weeks (Jagr too). He's averaging nearly 5 minutes more than last season, and he turns 38 next month, not 28. March is going to be a very tough month. The Rangeres are going to need him at 100% if they are going to make the playoffs.

No way Rangers are able to contain Lecavalier/Richards/St.Louis. Tampa wins in a landslide 14-1. Rangers lone goal comes from Brad Isbister, who continues to get more and more minutes at the expense of Prucha and Immonen.

With how close this race is and is going to be I don't see Shannys role being reduced. Infact the days of Jagr playing the full 2 minutes on the power play are going to return pretty soon..I can see Renney doing it with Shanny too..I really can't blame Renney if I had his job i'd play my top guys as much as possible. Renneys job is to win first and foremost...

If I'm the Rangers i create one scoring line 2 two way lines and a hard forecheck 4th line...

The have the guys to fit in the roles they just refuse to put them in the right postion..

If I'm Renney I'd go with this for the near future.

Shanny Nylander Jagr
Straka Immonen Prucha
Hollweg Cullen Hall
Hossa Betts Ward

Everybody in just about the right role..I'd also rather reach with Hollweg on the 3rd line than Cullen on the 2nd line if that makes sense...(which i'm sure it doesn't)

Btw...

Who sits tonight for Isbister?

If I had to guess I'd say Hall but don't be surprised if it's Prucha...

Renney is running Shanahan into the ground. If the Rangers make the playoffs, will he have anything left in the tank? I think Detroit fans have noted that he had little left once playoff time rolled around the past few years. And he wasn't playing this much back in Detroit.

I kinda think that Jagr and Shanahan are big boys and are able to know when they are being run into the ground.

I have him in my pool, too. He sucked in the beginning of the year and someone DROPPED him. I scooped him up and the first game he played for me he had a, I think, hat trick.

Looks like Marc Denis (8-11-2) is in net tonight for Tampa Bay. He has a 3.17 GAA and .877 save %. He's actually very good against the Rangers in his career with a 4-1-1 record and a .930 save %!

Keep my good day going, Rangers.

I was the color guy for the QU Men's Basketball game on our professional station today, and everyone I've talked to says I've never sounded better...

So, keep my good day going, let's get a win.

I see Nylander helping out a lot. Our PP has looked awful lately, but look for Nylander to energize us. Henrik has lots of focus after being away, so I say Rangers 4-2.

SoS..

I agree with your thoughts of the 'objective', but there are many ways to win, and a coach needs to be creative over an 82 game season because the same 'ol, same 'ol doesn't always to it. Riding his horses worked perfectly last season; this one's a bit tougher and may take more of a team effort. I don't think we're really in disagreement here.

If the blueshirts win it will be in OT. And in the newly coined Renney theme, this game is a must not-lose. The first period will determine the winner. If TB jumps out early they won't look back.

I think we disagree at all on this..I also think your assesment that Renney plays not to lose is the best way to put the Rennney era..

I don't think Renney is a creative coach and i think it's going to be more of the same.
