Does Liles have a chance to make it to the Allstar game.

I concur. How can he compete with the likes of Fitzpatrick?

Yep, the Roryites have pretty much eliminated JML from contention. But then I am sure you all must realize from reading that garbage that Rory Fitzpatrick is a true representative of the All Star skills. God forbid someone with actual talent were to displace him.

I'm just happy to see him in meaningful things like the Olympics. if they wefre still doing the World Cup of Hockey, you know he'd be there too.

I think there's a decent chance he'll make it onto the team as one of the selections (only the top 2 defensemen are fan elected, the other 4 are chosen by the people actually in the league).

That's where the Fitzpatrick thing becomes a problem. If Fitzpatrick stays in the top-2 in votes then Lidstrom will have to be a reserve, leaving only 3 spots for Liles to make it. Pronger will be there for sure, leaving guys like Liles, Schneider, Vishnovski, Phaneuf, Zubov, and Timonen to fight over two spots.

Based on his stats so far this season J.M. deserves to be an All-Star, but Dion Phaneuf and Sergei Zubov are pretty big names and will be tough to beat out. Liles really needs Fitzpatrick to fall out of the top-2 in fan voting. I'd love to see Liles make the All-Star team and not make Sakic our lone representative.

Id rather Liles not play in the ASG. We need him healthy and players can get injured in the ASG (its hard, yes but every day of rest is good for a team battling for a playoff spot like ours).

I thought I was the only one with that (somewhat selfish) attitude.

Given the way he played defense on that first Chicago goal last night, I'm thinking no. :-)

He should get consideration as an offensive dman, but proabably won't.

Liles wont get in anyway to be honest.

Fitzpatrick, Lidstrom, Niedermayer, Pronger, Phaneuf, Schneider, Boucher are all ahead of him IMO so he wouldnt have gone even if Fitzpatrick wouldnt go.

Liles is also underrated by many so that lowers his chances too.

Why is his ice time so limited if he is deserving to be an All-Star?

All the other names mentioned play big minutes for their respective teams, on bluelines alot deeper than what the Av's have. What part of Liles' game makes him a legitimate All-Star? I realize he puts up alot of points, but that looks to be a reflection of his powerplay time coupled with offensive skills. He's clearly not the guy you put out in the last minute with a lead (that's Clark and Skrastins for the Avs right?)

I guess it comes down to my belief that an All-Star can do more than just generate points. He needs to step up and play against the top guys as well.

Does Liles get to do that much?

I personally think Clark is more deserving than Liles, but I can't see him going ahead of the guys already mentioned, or even some that haven't (Boucher)

I like Clark as much as anyone else, especially when it comes to his breakout and the way he carries the puck through traffic, which I think is as good as anyone in the NHL, but why would he deserve to go to the All Star game over Liles? Clark has 3 goals and 16 assists, while Liles has 10 goals and 17 assists.
