Vokoun

Is he going to be back for the next game? I heard that he'd be ready after the break, but I've heard nothing ever since.

Why not put this in the "When Will Vokoun be back" thread instead of starting another redundant thread?

There is no new info since the last post.

Vokoun update: Injured goalkeeper Tomas Vokoun has made "good progress with his hand," and could be cleared to return to practice either late this week or early next, Trotz said.

Vokoun, who underwent surgery on Nov. 27 to repair torn ligaments in his left, stick-holding hand, has not yet been allowed to hold his stick while on the ice, Trotz said, but he is expected to be cleared to do so either today or Thursday.

When he does he will use a specially fitted glove to help protect the injured area.

With the quality of play that you're getting from Mason, I don't know why you'd want him back right now.

I'm of the belief that you don't change the lineup until you lose a game when everyone is healthy

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you are saying, but...

We all know from his history that Trotz firmly believes that a player should not lose their spot due to injury.

Vokoun will immediately step in and be the starter as soon as he is ready. Mason's sharp play has allowed Vokoun to rehab properly and I really don't believe that Vokoun will play in a game until he is not only able to hold a stick and get through a couple of practices pain-free, but also not until he is reconditioned and in top form.

Upshall on the other hand will not be given back his spot from Radulov, but will probably remain on the Nashville roster due to the fact that he needs to clear waivers to be assigned to Milwaukee. Scottie will probably see at least one, if not two, conditioning assignments to the Admirals before he is reinserted into the Predators lineup.

Since Vokoun went down we have played 5 playoff teams and lost to 3 of them. Mason has played decent against a pretty light schedule.

Vokoun is a much better goalie.

Respectfully, I think goalies are a different class of player...Vokoun is a special, superstar type of guy. He always gives you the best chance to win IMHO. Mason is solid, but not a stud like Tomas...

ugh ... I didn't mean to quote Slapshot17 ... I was meaning to reply in general ... about shuffling in players in and out when you are winning games (Fiddler, Upshall and players of that ilk)

Nashville Predators: Goaltender Tomas Vokoun, who's been out of the lineup since tearing a thumb ligament Nov. 23, is scheduled to resume practice this week. He probably will be ready to play in another week or 10 days. - The Tennessean

not that there was any question as who is #1, but it shows that trotz will ease TV back into it.
