I hate to lose Anshakov, but Straka will be a nice addition.

i guess that takes LA out of the possible comrie destinations, narrowing it down to anaheim, nashville and atlanta.

He plays the wing though. How much center do you think he played behind Lang, lemieux and Hrdina?

I do think the Kings can make a lot of noise this year and believe this was a smart pickup for them.

However, Pens didn't do that bad. They got two prospects and moved a big salary from their payroll.

This deal will help both teams.

it saddens me to see the penguins continue to give away their name players for next to nothing. anshakov could turn into a decent player and this was of course a salary dump, but pittsburgh's financial situation is not going to improve if no one wants to go see the games. say hello to ovechkin and crosby pittsburgh, and boy are they needed.

I agree. This move helps the Kings become more competetive, and it helps the pens achieve their goal of becoming the single worst team to ever play any sport.

Dave Taylor strikes again. My sympathy goes out to the Penguins and their fans... it's like adding salt to wounds.
So does this make Steve McKenna the default 1st line LW?
:p

As much as this move puts the Pens more firmly in control of the Ovechkin Derby, the oddity there could be the high transfer fee payment they will owe since the Russian Hockey Federation is not currently bound by the IIHF guidelines for NHL transfer payments. The irony that they can't afford players when they may be faced with a record setting transfer fees...

Please spare us the Penguin pity. They're rebuilding. They were trying to get rid of Straka (well, his salary) for a long time.

To Kings fans: You've got yourself a passionate player in Straka. He's something of a perimeter guy, but he's not afraid of the corners. He's a great powerplay man, good playmaker, and can score. Of course he's incredibly fast. I don't think his broken leg has slowed him down too much. His only drawback is playing back, and making the dangerous giveaway. If history's any indication, he'll prosper with quality teammates.

And this move clears the way for Kris Beech to make the Penguins, Beech has been according to every source in Wilkes-Barre, their hardest working and best player in the past month...

Not sure about the players we received and Marty was always a favorite, but his salary was killing us and his production was non-existant.

wow that is not much at all for Straka. This is very similar to the Kovalev deal - hardly any value in return for the player you are departing. Pittsburgh is not going to be around for long - new CBA or no CBA
