GDT: 12-27-06 Stars at Avalanche 7 PM MT

Theodore in net (Denver Post)

Possible no Madano for the Stars (DP), Ott Snot is out as well for them (DP)

Svatos still injured (DP)

Stars lost a game last night to the Blackhawks, and had to travel. Avs need to take advantage. And for goodness sakes, can we hold a lead against this stupid team? I always go to bed in the 3rd, the Avs always have the lead, and I always wake up to find that they lose. Come on Avs, just think it's the playoffs, you do fine then.

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) I won't be catching this game live, going to see some fine AHL action here in Chicago today. I love free hockey tickets (Having a team in town thats 24-7-1-1 isn't so bad either)

TSN says Lindros and Morrow also will not play due to injury.

Three of their best players out and they played last night and traveled after. The table is set for the Avs. No excuse for losing this one. Nothing short of two points will acceptable.

If we lose tonight, we're automatically out of first place. So, must-win. And the other St-Louis games are also pretty much must wins. At this moment, more than ever, we need a winning streak. 3 2-pointers can distance us from the pack.

The NW will be like this the entire season, I'm afraid.

I'm just glad to see a few solid results in there. I'm quite happy for people to keep writing us off actually, we can be another April surprise.....

I don't agree. One team WILL start to pull away, while the others hover around .500. If Calgary hadn't had such a poor start, they'd be that team. They still can do it, but I think,l based on recent play, the avs can pull away with it. They just have to shove together a streak and they'll pull it off..

Preview is up. Watching Canada-US back home, then driving back in time to catch game on the radio.

Is it sad or wrong of me that I was hoping for Budaj tonight? Theodore seems like such a crap shoot these days. I'm going to the game tonight, I'm hoping he keeps it together.

Theo is brilliant...

...see, the Avs tend to lose when they get a lead, but they have been doing decent at coming from behind to win.

So, Theo lets in the early goal, thus ensuring us that we have to come from behind to win, rather than having us score first, only to blow the lead in the third.

And Brendan Morrow is out after having the tendons in his right wrist surgically repaired. Bad night for the Stars fans.

I want to like Theodore. I really do. he's our goalie now, and I have to live with that. Still, it seems like you can tell right off the bat what kind of night he is going to have. if he is shifting around a lot in goal, taking quick little steps when nothing is going on, he's off his game. When he can just sit there and be calm, he is going to have a good night.

I just wish he would settle down. At least he isn't in the news for his extra ciricular activities. (I spelled that so wrong)

Oh bargain. Two weeks ago I traded away Morrow in a keeper league for Hensick and a very high pick. That makes me look smarter than I am

Stars are 7-1-4 in Denver ( not including playoff). They are looking at their 4th straigth win against us PLUS, they are 5-3-1 in the second leg of back to back.

They're missing key players. This should be rather easy

kut the karma krap, in all seriousness, dallas looks like a prime av target. They SEEM tough (which will bring out the A game) but they are weak at the moment. Also, Avs are known for their Star-killing.

St Louis may be tougher, since they are considered weak

I am not sure how many Avs game you are watching, but they seems to find ways to lose on games like these.
So, cut down the confidence krap.

Plus, they have not been on ice for how many days? I bet my lucky star that they will come out flat.

For being known as "Stars-killing" they are 7-1-4 against us. I don't consider that stats as "Stars-killing".

a) No, the avs lose against teams that are TRADITIONALLY bad, like ST Louis, Chicago, Columbus, and Los Angeles. Dallas is normally good, which brings out the avs A game. Today, unfortuantely for you stars fans, the stars aren't looking so good, and are missing their key players

b) They can pretty easily come out blazing, as well. Just like Dallas can be tired and flat footed. That's complete guessing at this point

c) Stars killers : the past 3 times the avs have met the stars in the playoffs, the avs have won. Star-killers

Someone mentioned it in the main board: battle between teams that couldn't score vs team that couldn't play defense

The Avs have a history of playing like crap against teams they should beat. Chicago, St. Louis, Vancouver, LA, Columbus, Pittsburgh, Phoenix, etc... Have all bean the Avs (some more than once) in the last couple years when they were out and out sucking. I wouldn't be surprised to see a close, low scoring game.

Have to love a couple of the stories the local news was running this evening. One about Stastny's 21st birthday being today, and the other showing an interview with Lappy where he was picking a fight with Richardson (jokingly) in the locker room, and giving him a hard time about how he always talks about the one fight he's had in his life (in junior).
